Mirabelle's POV
At that point, I just needed a break. To make things much easier, Eugene went to London and I went back to my parents.
Initially, they thought we were fighting, which in all honesty we actually were, but later on, I explained that he had left for a while.
I didn't know when he'd return, but I decided to occupy myself more with work. I took up more shifts than I could handle but I didn't mind because it helped me not to think about Eugene and what happened two weeks ago.
How he just left me hanging and once again, chose Lynelle over me. Couldn't he just make up his mind? Ugh.
I followed up on Prince though till he recovered and we even went for lunch some time ago.
“So, how have you been? I mean since the accident?”
“I've been great, much better, just that sometimes my arm hurts.”
“What exactly caused the accident?” I asked, sipping my drink.
“I don't remember much, and the investigations aren't really giving me a lot of information since the driver died…but I do suspect that it's some of my competitors.”
“Do you owe them?” I asked.
“I don't owe people, Mirabelle. It's plain envy.” He sighed. He was right, though, because Prince inherited his father's huge empire after we completed college.
One of the things I admired him for was the fact that he was really hard working and had a lot of vision. Too bad he failed at being a good boyfriend.
“Well, I'm just glad you're okay. I smiled at him.
“Hey, thanks for checking up on me. I know I don't deserve your care even after what I did-”
“Hey, it's okay…at least we were really good friends before we dated.” I smiled at him. “And I'm sure, whoever you're with now, you wouldn't hurt her.”
“Uh…I'm actually not with anyone now…I've been quite busy with work and all…I'm also trying to be a better person…and maybe restore certain things, too.” He spoke gazing intently at me.
I tore my face away and tucked my hair behind my ear. “Just, take care of yourself.”
“What about you?” He asked.
“Me?”
“Yeah, how have you been since you went to London and all that?”
“I've also been great, I guess.” I smiled at him. “My parents are even in town.”
“Oh, they exist?” He teased me, and I rolled my eyes.
“Of course.”
“So….are you with someone now?” He asked, and the first person that came to mind that instant was him. Just the person I didn't want to think about.
“Uh…it's kinda complicated…I really don't wanna talk about it.”
“Okay I understand. But I'll be your friend if you need one.” He offered.
“Thanks, Prince.” I smiled at him and looked at my watch. “Oh, my shift is in the next ten minutes, I have to go.” I sighed.
“Wait, let me drop you off.” He offered.
“No, don't worry, I'll catch a cab.” I declined his help and quickly left before he could stop me. I made it a mental note to call Marylove right after work because I had a lot on my plate.

9pm
I checked the time and started packing up to leave. I packed my files into my drawer, took my handbag, and turned off the lights before I left my office. I went outside, and I immediately met Dr. Ranson is about to enter his car.
“Hey Mirabelle, you're just in time. Let me give you a ride.” He offered.
“That's nice of you, but I-”
“You won't easily get a cab, at this hour, come on, I insist.” He was right. I was just being stubborn.
He opened the door to the passenger's seat for me, and I took my seat, placing my bag on my lap. He moved over to his side to take his seat.
“How are you? You've really overworked today. What's the matter?” He asked, revving the engine.
“Oh nothing really, I just want to occupy my mind. A lot has been going on.” I simply answered.
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, quite a lot..”
“Is that why I haven't heard much from you since our first date?” He asked, and I nearly winced.
“Yes..” I responded, unable to meet his eyes.
“What's wrong? You can talk to me.” He requested.
“Thanks for your concern David…but I really don't want to discuss it now.”
“Okay, okay, sure. I understand. Sorry.”
“It's okay.” I smiled. Within twenty minutes, we arrived at my house.
“Mirabelle.” He called, taking my hand.
“Yeah?” I asked, looking at him.
“Take care, okay? Whatever that's bothering you, I hope you get it sorted out.” He said, kissing the back of my hand, and I smiled weakly.
“I will. Thanks again.” I nodded, and he let go of my hand.
I got down and entered the house. Mimi was in the hall watching TV and making a call.
“Yes dear, have you eaten…good good. Oh, she's fine, she's actually here.” Mimi then turned to look at me. Was Eugene asking of me?
“Do you want to-” Mimi started, but I made a gesture showing her that I was tired, and then I quickly left for my room. I closed the door and placed a hand on my racing heart.
I went to my bathroom, took a bath, and came back to lie on my bed. Then, all that I had kept in me began to spill through my eyes. I sat on my bed and cried for a very long time.
I was so confused, and I felt so lost, so jealous, so angry, and basically just frustrated. My phone rang, and I saw Marylove's name flash on the screen.I ignored the call and continued my crying session. After almost an hour, I wiped below my eyes and lay on my bed to sleep.
