Mirabelle's POV

"Wow, my daughter is looking so wonderful!" My mom cooed, gripping my upper arms after we hugged. They arrived this afternoon, and the whole house was a total mood.

"Curtesy  to Mimi, she feeds me so well, and she's taught me a lot."

"Oh shush, it was nothing.." Mimi spoke, and we laughed.

I went over to my thick, tall father, who also embraced me. After all the meetings, my parents went to freshen up, while I went with Mimi to set up for lunch.

Mimi didn't really speak much during lunch, and it seemed she wanted me to talk more to my parents.  They were quite friendly and bubbly, especially mom.

"London was amazing, I loved everything. "

"So, do you wanna go back?"

"Maybe... but not now.. I miss home, too, and I miss you guys a lot."

"How was the internship?"

"It was wonderful  and I'm actually doing much well over here... even though my schedule gets a bit tight at times... I even have thousands of appointments this evening."

"So much work and stress, do you have a boyfriend? Or anyone you're seeing?" She asked, and my heart dropped.

Should have told Mimi earlier !

"Oh yes, she does." Mimi chipped in happily. Oh dear.

My heart started beating really fast, and a little sweat broke on my forehead.

"Um...uh..." I stammered, and my mom gave me a curious look, making me laugh nervously.

"So what's his name?" My dad frowned a bit.

"He's actually my son."

"Oh, Elvin-Eugene? Is he finally back? Then we must meet him!"

Oh God, no.

"Should I arrange a dinner?"

"No, no, no..." I interjected, and they all looked at me. "Um.. we have a date." I lied.

"Really?"

"Yes, please. " I spoke and sighed inwardly that they'd finally stop bugging.

"Well then, please talk to him to reschedule...you young people have so many days to spend on dates..  we want to meet him."

Everyone gave me a pleading look that I even felt it within me.

"Um....alright. "

What? What was I doing?!

"So call him."

"Hm?" I murmured with my heart pounding.

"Call him...don't you have his contact?"

Think fast..faster! I didn't have his number.

"Uh... no... I can't call him right now because my phone is dead." I lied. My phone was on my bed, fully charged.

"Then use mine..." Mimi offered, giving me her phone.

"Thanks, I'm going to call him." They nodded as I stood up and left to a place put of ear shot.

I searched up his name, and my heart started racing because I've never spoken to him on the phone before. My hands shook as I clicked the call button. It dialled for a while, and then he picked up.

"Mum...what is it?" His deep voice was so husky and nearly a whisper, which made me feel so weak.

"Well, hello to you too." I mustered strength, and I wondered what he was doing on the other side of the phone... was he asleep?

"Why do you sound like that?"

"Because I'm not your mother." It was followed by a short silence. "Eugene?"

"What do you want?"  Rude. Ugh.

I rolled my eyes before I replied, "My parents are in town they want to meet my so-called boyfriend."

"Okay...and?"

"Are you serious?" I looked over my shoulder to ensure that no one was in sight.

"I thought you wanted to blurt everything to my mum."

"Oh, so you're daring me?" I demanded, and he lowly chuckled.  Gosh, even in my anger, his laugh tossed my stomach over.

"When's the meeting?" He inquired.

"Tomorrow's dinner."

"Anything else??"

"Yes, when are you telling the truth? Because I can't continue to be in a fake relationship with someone who has already asked another person out."

"What's your issue with Lynelle? I haven't said anything about your affair with that doctor. "

"Affair? Excuse me? What do you take me for?" I asked, but he didn't respond.

"I don't have time for this." He sighed and hung up. Douche.

I hated him more than before! I was so annoyed at that moment that I led out a squeal of frustration. Then I thought of things this way...what if I just told Mimi everything? It would be really hard to digest, but it would soon blow over.

It was time to actually cut down this nonsense.  Besides, David was even muh more suitable.

Elvin-Eugene's POV

The mere remembrance of the promise I made to my mother gave me more of the reason to carry on with my intentions.

That was why I even kept on trying to get my mum fully convinced that Mirabelle and I were dating.

But then, I had this sense of hatred whenever what she did to me flashed in my memory, and it blocked how I actually wanted to feel sometimes. But it was good because there was no way I was going to let myself feel that way.

The goal was to dazzle her, then snap her out of it over and over again.

I needed to be careful though...because I could easily slip back again...considering the fact that she had evolved more over the years...

The way my heart even thumped when I saw her descending the staircase even confirmed my need to be cautious.

Her ponytail gave me a clear view of her face, followed her bodycon dress, which had a slit  on the side up to her mid thigh, leaving the rest for imagination.

And my imagination was really running wild. She narrowed her eyes at me, and I remembered that I had annoyed her yesterday. Sigh. I had to fix his, too.
