Chapter 5 - A Day at the Cafe

Same day...

Location - Wakaba Residence, Mutsumi's Room

Mutsumi's POV

Sakiko's text: I have something I want to ask you. You don't have to answer right away, but I need you to hear me out.

Mutsumi's text: Umm, okay?

Sakiko's text: I was thinking about getting back on the band path, but not as CRYCHIC.

Mutsumi's text: As a new band?

Sakiko's text: Exactly, and since you're a skill guitarist, it would make me happy if you joined me.

Mutsumi's text: I'll think about it, but I got to ask, what made you want to do this in the first place? You made it clear that you didn't want to take the stage anymore.

Sakiko's text: While you are right about that, things are going to be different this time around.

Mutsumi's text: Different? How so?

Sakiko's text: I'll spare you details by saying... I'm going to be taking the stage with a whole new persona.

Mutsumi's text: A new persona?

Sakiko's text: That's right, so what do you say? Are you in?

I thought about Saki's offer for a moment before responding. It is nice to know that she wants to step on stage again and take another shot at music, but the idea of creating a persona... I feel like there is more to it. For now, I'll say this...

Mutsumi's text: How soon do you need an answer by?

Sakiko's text: As soon as possible would be nice.

As soon as possible she says... at least I have a little bit of time to think about it.

Mutsumi's text: I'll have my answer by the end of the week.

Sakiko's text: Very well.

I put my phone down and I stared up the ceiling. Now I have two things to think about; me going to hangout with (Y/N), and the offer Saki made me.

The next day...

Your POV

Today is the day I get to hangout with Mutsumi. I know a cafe we could go to, so I am hoping she is okay to do that. However, I was a little bit nervous. It almost feels like I am going on a date with her even though that it is not the case.

I walked over to her house next door, and instead of going to the door and knocking, Mutsumi sat outside and waited for me. She looked at me as I got closer to her, and I see a smile on her face.

"Good afternoon, Mutsumi." I said to her.

"Hi there. Good to see you again." She said, still smiling.

"Good to see you, too." I replied. "Are you ready to hangout?"

"Yeah, I am." She said. "What exactly did you have planned for us?"

"Well, I do know a cafe we can go to." I answered.

"A cafe, huh? That does sound like a good idea." Mutsumi said. "Let's go!"

With that, Mutsumi and I began to walk over to the cafe. I was starting to feel nervous on the inside, but I'll do my best to overcome this.

An hour later...

Location - Cafe

Mutsumi and I made it to the cafe I told her about earlier. It was close to our houses, and I would go here all the time in case I was ever having a bad day. As we got there, we were greeted by the maid I see all of the time. It goes without saying that she is happy to see me.

"Nice to see you again, (Y/N)." She said with a smile.

"Nice to see you too." I said with a smile of my own.

"Table for two?" She asked, noticing that Mutsumi is right behind me.

"Yes please."

"Alright. Feel free to sit anywhere, and I would get some menus for you."

"Thanks."

Mutsumi and I headed over towards the table that was close to the wall. Menus were given to us, and we took our time looking at them. I already know what I plan on getting, but for Mutsumi, she was taking her time to look at all of the options.

"Have you decided what you want?" I asked.

"Yeah, I was thinking about getting the strawberry cake and a mango soda." She said.

"An interesting combination." I said.

Once the maid came back, we placed our orders, she took the menus away, and went behind the counter to take care of our orders.

She came back with our orders. For Mutsumi, a strawberry cake and mango soda, and for me, a brownie and a lemonade soda. Once we got everything, we started chatting while enjoying our snacks.

An hour later...

Location - Residential Area

It was fun to spend most of the day at the cafe, and I feel like Mutsumi and I have gotten closer. However, I did noticed that she was deep in thought about something. I tried to ask her about it, but she didn't want to talk about it. Of course, I won't try to force it out of her. But whatever is, I hope she'll be ok.

After spending some time in the cafe, we decided to go back home. Mutsumi was still thinking about something, but I decided not to say anything about it since I know she wasn't going to open up about it. It did made this walk home now awkward, but there was nothing more I could do.

"Well, there is my house." She said.

"My house is next door." I replied.

"Thank you for inviting me to hangout with you." She said with a smile.

"Yeah, I had fun as well." I told her.

"Do you think we can do it again sometime?"

"I think it's a fine idea, and maybe we can do something different as well."

Mutsumi let out a cute smile.

"I would like that very much."

She gave me a quick hug and a wave before going back to her house. I began to head into mine, looking forward to the next time I get to hangout with Mutsumi.
