Chapter 9 - For Personal Reasons

Your POV

Summer is right around the corner, and that means that final exams are coming up to. This would be the one time where I would actually get excited for summer vacation. However, there has been something on my mind for the last month, or rather... someone, and that someone was Mutsumi.

A month before, I sent her a text asking if she was okay since she was avoiding me for quite some time. Then after a while, she reached out to me, and what she said broke my heart.

Mutsumi's text: I got some personal matters to attend to. Please leave me alone and don't reach out to me.

Don't reach out to her? What does she mean by that? Ever since I first met her, she and I have been doing everything together. In fact, it's not like her at all.

I have to get to the bottom of this, so I decided to go next door and see what was going on. I rang the doorbell, and through the intercom, I heard the voice of her maid.

"Hello. How may I help you?" She asked.

"Hi. It's me, (Y/N) (L/N), and I was hoping I could talk to Mutsumi-san, if that's possible?" I asked.

"Sorry to disappoint, but Mutsumi-san is currently not home at the moment. Please try again later. Thank you."

"Oh, yeah, no worries."

Knowing that Mutsumi wasn't home, I decided to walk away. I just want to know what's going on, and why am I being ghosted over it.

"Mutsumi..."

A few days later...

Location - The Park

Today after school, I decided not to go home right away. I decided to come here to the park and practice my guitar. As I practiced, I kept looking at the sunset from time to time, and it makes me a little sad. I wonder if Mutsumi is able to see it, too, wherever she is...

"No. I gotta focus." I said to myself and went back to playing the guitar.

As I kept playing the guitar, I get a notification from social media on my phone. I pulled it out and saw that it was the feed of this new band everyone is talking about; Ave Mujica.

I haven't been able to go to their shows in person yet, but given how much support they have, I might have to go to one. The members look interesting and so do their stage names.

There's Doloris, the vocalist who plays the guitar.

The lead guitarist, Mortis.

The bassist, Timoris.

Then you got the drummer, Amoris.

Last but not least, there's Oblivionis, the keyboardist and leader of the group.

As I looked at the five girls, I start to ponder something about one of their members, aka Mortis. I know I have seen her somewhere before, but... I can't put my finger on it.

"Long time no see."

I looked over and I was surprised to see Mutsumi standing behind me. She must've had a long day because she is wearing the summer version of her school uniform.

"Wah! When did you get here?!"

"Just now." She plainly responds. What a smartass this one is.

"Oh, well, I've been meaning to talk to you anyway." I start to say, but instead, I get this...

"Sorry, but I can't talk to you anymore."

"What? Why?" I asked.

"It's for a personal reason. I doubt someone like you would understand."

Mutsumi starts to walk away from me, breaking my heart even more. I start to call out to her, but no matter how hard I try, she kept ignoring me.

"Mutsumi..."

That's when a realization hit me. I looked at the picture of Mortis, and I start to compare it to Mutsumi. There's no way that Mutsumi is Mortis, right?
