A week later...
Location - Residential Area
Your POV
At long last, summer vacation is finally here. While I am happy that I am able to get through my final exams and not have to worry about school for a while, there was one thing that was stopping me from smiling. That one thing... was Mutsumi.
I can't get over what she said to me a while back, the part where she won't talk to me anymore. She said the reason was personal, but that was it. I know exactly what that reason, though, and I plan on confronting her about it the next time I see her.
It was a hot summer day, and I am currently walking through the neighborhood as I start to suffer from the heat. As I kept on walking, I noticed someone up ahead.
It was Mutsumi. Just looking at her reminded me about what she said about wanting me to stay away from her. I can't do that... Mutsumi has always been by my side, and she has done so much for me.
Determined to talk to her, I walked towards her with a serious expression. This time around, I am going to put my foot down, and I won't leave her alone until I get the truth on what's going on. I deserve it, after all.
"Mutsumi, please, we need to talk."
"We don't need to talk." She said firmly. "I told you to stay away, and I mean it."
"I'm not going anywhere!"
My loud voice stun her for a moment.
"You were the best friend I've ever had! I told you everything that went down in my past, and even though you said you couldn't do much, you told me that you were going to be my source of comfort."
Tears start to fall out of my eyes as I said this.
"Isn't that what you said to me, or was it one big lie?!"
Silence fell upon us when I said that. I just looked at her, and she just looked at me. After saying nothing for a while, she lets out a sigh and says...
"Come with me."
She starts to walk away, and despite my confusion, I followed her. Whatever would help me get the answers I need, I'll do just about anything at this point.
_____________________________________________An hour later...
Location - Hazawa Coffee
I followed Mutsumi all the way to Hazawa Coffee. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I think Mutsumi was feeling the summer heat and wanted to get out of it as much as I do. As we got inside, we sat down by the air conditioner, and she lets out a sigh.
"Much better." She said.
"So, are you going to talk or not?"
Mutsumi nodded before speaking up.
"Yes, you do have the right to know, so I'll tell you everything." She said.
"But before I do..." She continues. "I want to apologize for abandoning you like that, and it's not like I did it on purpose."
"Oh yeah? What was the reason then?" I asked.
"A friend. I was with a friend who desperately needed my help."
I guess I can see that happening. Mutsumi is a good person to go to whenever someone needs help, but I guess it didn't change the fact that she had to push my happiness to tje side to make it happen. And then...
(Pretend this is you and Mutsumi)
...Mutsumi moved over to my side of the table, anf and took my hand.
"But I made up my mind." She said. "I am going to stay by your side no matter what, and reform the bond that we once had."
That was exactly what I was hoping to hear.
"Thanks, that's what I needed to hear." I said as I used my thumb to rub her hand.
Mutsumi lets out a small smile as I did this, and then she said softly...
"You're welcome, my friend..."
