Judgment

The hall silenced immediately as Aro spoke. Every eye danced between our two groups but the leading was at the master's side. Caius was the one who let the trial start.

“So what brought you here to steal our precious time?” He measured us.

As was natural from him he immediately cast out the net of intimidation. Not like he didn’t know why we came or he didn’t wait for this moment for weeks now. Oh no. He needed to start the show in a high point and as was expected he delivered.

“Dear friends. We came here to ask for your wise judgment in a matter that endangered our family and our secret.” Carlisle stepped forward as our family's leader and spokesperson. “Firstly I would like to introduce to you the youngests of our family, Renesmee and Carlie.” He gestured to us.

The crowd mainly saw Renesmee as she was hugging me tightly so I wouldn’t slip out from our mother’s hold due to my uncontrollable shield.

“They are the twin daughters of Edward and his wife Isabella. They were born when Bella was still human. They are half mortal and half immortal.” He let a few seconds of silence so those who didn’t know this information had time to digest it.

“As you can see their existence is not something that we were aware of ever being possible, that is why when they were old enough we set out to find answers of similar occurrences. We found legends from Ticuna folklore and our search led us into the South. There we met Nahuel and his aunt Hulien.” He gestured at the hybrid boy and the vampire next to him. He nodded curtly as a reaction to his introduction.

“He is the half human half vampire son of Joham.” He then turned to the other party to point out said man. They were listening quietly, waiting where the story would lead to and how they would defend themselves.

“Nahuel told us about himself and what we should expect from our daughters’ growth. We found great friends in them.” Carlisle then took the darker turn.

“Unfortunately the legends that we followed there were more well known amongst the native population than we thought. And while I say well known I don’t mean the kind of well known like the Dracula kind of stories or others which are merely fairy tales for humans. No, these people fully believed their legends and for once they were alarmingly accurate. That was what we failed to recognise and when our children went to the village they were attacked by the villagers and were chased out into the wilderness.”

Multiple gasps and whispers filled the room. There weren’t any angry mobs that were aimed at an immortal in almost two hundred years now. The fact that it really happened while the laws of secrecy were reinforced was unexpected.

“The family was as surprised as you are now.” He continued. “Even more since these legends originated from Joham, Nahuel’s father from those times when he pursued women to bear his children.” Carlisle left breaks in his speech just to keep up the interest. It did wonders on the witnesses. They were fully invested just to hear the end of it.

When we found Renesmee wandering around after the attack we found out that her sister Carlie disappeared. She was taken by this man.” He gestured at Joham. “But they didn’t return her to us or contact any of us. They simply took our daughter and disappeared with her. We couldn’t even find her if she wouldn’t escape by her own force.” Carlisle finished.

At the end of it the table was set. Now everyone understood that while this trial was about a serious exposure it was a personal matter by heart. Every eye was set on the masters. Will they accept this request and make justice?

“If we are correct. Are your accusations towards this man…” Aro gestured at Joham. “Is exposure and from that your coven’s endangerment?”

This felt more than just a simple endangering since I wasn’t just endangered but kidnapped, and abused. Also in vampire society killing another was perfectly fine until it didn’t gather human attention so my abduction was a gentle action in that perspective. That piece irritated me and my family without end. One’s child can’t live without fear? Well the Volturi’s rule was built on that fear so I couldn’t hope for more recognition at this moment just a simple endangerment of our secret.
