Nimona: Come on, amateur, what is this, your first time away from the mountain?

Kayden: Yes, no one's been outside the mountain's base since your birth father settled us there a millenium ago. I was born there.

Nimona: Whoope-dee-doo for you. So, what's the deal with you and my 'brother'?

Kayden: Should've known that you'd be perceptive enough to sense that something was amiss. Nolan and I...(sighs) we used to date.

Nimona: What?!

Kayden: Yeah, it went about as well as you'd expect. He found someone else that would move as fast as he wanted to and I got left in the dust.

Nimona: Yikes, I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, I find you much more tolerable than that dimwitted prick. Couldn't respect boundaries, so I believe it. Just like my real dad's ex. I'd almost bet money I don't have that he's behind this.

Kayden: Ballister? Yeah, he seems to care a lot more about you as a person than controlling you. The chief is...not as inclined. He was so lost in grief after losing his mate and you that he forced everyone like him to stay on the mountain. No one's ever left since.

Nimona: So, he is just like Gloreth. The 'hero' that caused all of this mess in the first place. Even a millenia after she's gone, they worship her and follow her rules never to leave the wall.

Kayden: (sniffs; looks back suddenly) Um, Nimona. We have company!

Nimona: Not again! Fuck, we don't have time for this!

They really had no time for this, but Nimona stopped and whirled around to growl at their pursuers. There were two adult shifters. Neither of which were her birth father, but she can't say that she expected much different.

Shifter 1: Miss, please. Consider your father's point of view.

Nimona: Considering his entire point of view was him trying to control my actions and thoughts and telling me what I SHOULD think, do and feel, I'm gonna take a pass on that. Trauma doesn't mean that you get to dictate other people. My adoptive dad, despite being human, has never once tried to pressure or control me. His boyfriend has tried to control him, in my opinion, but I can't make the decision for him to break up with Ambrosius.

Shifter 2: I mean, she's got a point, Olivia.

Olivia: You, too? Is everyone going to end up questioning our chief's ways? He does it to keep us safe, Lucas!

Lucas: Think about it! When was the last time you've had a perfectly reasonable feeling and he's told you that you shouldn't feel that way because it's him?

Olivia: Just yesterday.

Nimona: We're wasting time that Dad doesnt have. Come if you want, I don't care, but you won't manipulate me into staying with someone who doesn't have the balls to admit that he's in the wrong.

She flies off. Kayden shrugs and follows after her so that he doesn't get left behind again.
