Chapter 24 ~ Resistance.

LUKE'S POV

When I told the boys I was going to my room to watch Netflix I'm pretty sure they all saw right through my bs. I went upstairs and stared at my poster covered walls with my headphones on full blast. Blocking out the world is something that comes way too easily for me.

Minutes become hours and before I know it its 3 in the morning. How did that happen? I turn my music off along with the lamp next to my bed. I suppose I should try to get a little bit of sleep tonight. I lay my head down and immediately she pops into my mind. Of freaking course when isn't she in my mind. Addie.. Addie Addie Addie. She really is something, not like any other girl I've met. As f.uckimg cheesey as this sounds, all of her imperfections are what make her perfect to me. I feel 100% myself around her and that's not a feeling I have had around anyone except the boys recently. Addie is so sincere and doesn't want me because I'm in this band that just so happens to be fairly successful, she likes me for me.

I hate that I have to separate myself from her. It's going to hurt, h.ell it might even break me. It hasn't been long, but I can't see myself living without her, whether we're in a relationship or just friends. D.amn this contract.

I hear a little commotion coming from down the hall way and notice a light moving with footsteps past my door. I decide to be snoopy and wait second before slowly opening my door and sitting at the top of the steps. The kitchen light is on and I can hear a muffled voice. Addie. I don't hear a second voice so she must be either talking to herself or on the phone.

Addie stops speaking and I hear her crying. S.hit Luke don't give in don't do it you'll crumble. The walls you semi-kinda put up will crash down. Wait, who the f.uck am I kidding, I'm not capable of putting up walls to keep her out.

Before I know what I'm doing, my legs take me down the stairs and to the kitchen. That's when I see her frail body on the ground shaking. Her hair is in front of her eyes, but I know she's crying from the sobs escaping her mouth.

"Addie,what's wrong?" I start and then her head drops and her eyes close, "Oh my gosh Addie are you okay?" What is happening? I kneel at her side. Addie's entire body is limp but I can still hear her slow, but unsteady breaking

"S.hit. F.uck. Somebody help!" I am in full panic mode. Someone enters the room, but I'm too busy wrapping an arm around Addie's waist and one under her legs to life her up.

"Luke what is it?" Calum questions from behind me. I turn around and he gives me a questioning look. Calum moves closer and spots Addie. "What happened?"

"I don't know but should we call for help?"

"Luke man I think as long as she is breathing normally we should just move her to the couch and keep an eye on her. Honestly, we don't need crap going out to the papers." Calum was right, but with Addie lying here motionless I'm unsure. I scoop my arms around her small fame carrying her to the couch in the family room. I carefully set her down and she stirs a little bit. Thank God.

I take a step away and Calum enters the room as well.

"I better leave," I say quietly.

"I'll watch her for you man."

"Thanks, you know I just can't."

"I know bro it's all good. You go to bed or whatever you do in that room of yours," Cal smirks, but I can't find it in me to retaliate or laugh with him. I guess it's best if I leave whatever happened to Calum. He's a good kid and I trust him.
