((Song of the chapter: Shut Up! by Simple Plan))
I hastily meet Shane in the hallway and we walk down stairs fake smiles and all. Shane is wearing a blue and green stripped polo with khaki pants and dress shoes. He looks pretty good if I do say so myself.
"Addison, Shane, you both look so grown up!" Mrs. Vohnhansen is the first to speak.
"I know aren't they lovely?" My mom just has to add. "Kids, you all can sit in the living room while the adults socialize in the dinning room." My mom, dad, along with Mr. and Mrs. Vohnhansen exit the entrance leaving us 'kids' alone in an eerie silence.
"Uh, I guess we can go to the living room." I say and motion for them to follow. I take a seat on the couch, Shane sits in the corner chair, Lucy and Madelynn take a seat on the floor chatting away about the latest gossip with Justin Bieber and Aaron, of all places, plops himself down on the couch next to me.
The room is silent, besides Lucy and Madelynn gossiping, so I decide to break it.
"So Aaron what's new with you?" Just be polite Addie.
"Nothing really, just keeping myself busy with my internship at my dad's company and volunteering at the local animal shelter." He gives me a small smile. Okay maybe he isn't that bad. He's just too perfect?
"That sounds pretty cool."
"Yeah, what have you been up to?" He asks and I have no clue how to answer.
"I, uh, well I haven't really done much. Still posting those youtube covers and such." I feel like that's the most I want to say.
"Oh yeah I forgot you love to sing! You're good too if I remember correctly."
"Well thanks." I chuckle.
"Kids time for dinner!" We hear my dad shout from the other room.
Our parents are seated across from one another leaving us to each sit on the side of our own family. I take a place next to my father and Shane. Aaron sits directly across from me.
"Shall we say grace?" My mothers asks. What the heck we never say grace.. Only on these special occasions when we have people over. It's all about the outer appearance isn't it tho. If we act like a perfect family we are one, right?
The starts off with an awkward silence among everyone except for the mothers.
"So Theresa I hear you are joining that book club?" My mother asks.
"Oh yes the women seem absolutely lovely." And it went like that until halfway through when the adults attempt to talk to us kids.
"So Aaron where do you plan on attending college?" My father questions.
"Well I am actually going to be applying to Baylor University." Aaron seems to be pleased with this and so do my parents.
"Ah that is just absolutely marvelous! I have been trying to get my Addison to tour the campus. Lovely isn't is?" I swear my mom just had to bring this up.
"Yes, very nice."
"Addison how about you, what are your college plans?" Mr.Vohnhansens pries. Well now that he actually asks me I have no idea what I'm supposed to-
"She will be attending a university here in Texas." My mother cuts me off from my thinking.
"Really mom?"
"Yes really that is the plan." She whispers through her teeth while keeping a fake smile plastered to her face.
"Actually, I am still keeping myself open to all options." I am not going to let my mother do this.
