Slingshot?

No one could believe what she was saying. There was someone else behind the scenes and they were with them? Jake began to shake in fear. He realized that she also said she didn't like them, meaning that it had to be one of the five she left alive. One of them wanted Jake dead, one so heartless that they wanted another person dead.

Willow on the other hand, was trying to figure out which one it was. Based off of what Jake has told her, she hated the five she never came into physical contact with. She had to remember their names from how Jake described them to her before. She knew all of them because Jake named them by eye color. She also remembered Drew because of his hair color, a dark magenta color.

"Willow?" Luke said as the shorter girl began to walk over to Drew. The girl looked the magenta haired boy up and down, trying to see if it was him or not, trying to tell if he was behind it all. Willow remembered how Jake would tell her about Hailey's hatred towards the tan boy.

She looked Drew in the eyes, making him look nervously at her. "May I help you?" Willow didn't respond, just stared.

"Willow, come back over here," Jake called out. His sister was scaring him for no reason.

"Hey, Jake!" Everyone looked back at Hailey, questioning glares being sent her way. "Your sister is on their hit list too," She laughed. Willow was about to say something but Luke cut her off.

"Like hell I'd let anyone harm her or her brother!" Willow looked at him with blush covering her cheeks. He was so sweet and he wanted to protect her.

Hailey glared at him. "How are you going to protect her? They can just keep hiring more people and you can't protect her from everyone." Hailey said, laughing like a mad man.

Everyone was frozen. She was right. They could always hire someone else to finish what another person started. They weren't safe. No one was safe around them either.

"That's enough out of you, ya brat." Ashley said, shoving her into the car and slamming the door. Officer Taylor walked over and looked down at the children. "Don't worry, no one's gonna harm ya as long as we're around."

The four looked at each other, not knowing if they could believe his words. Would they really be safe? They would never know until this was finally over and it could only end two ways. The siblings die, or they capture the puppet master before it's too late.

Jake was taken to the hospital with the other injured survivors, x-rays being needed to check if his leg was ok. He was now stuck in a room with his boyfriend, sister, Luke, Liam, Zoey, Lia, and Drew. "Why am I here again?" Jake asked his boyfriend, irritated and scared.

"Because they need to check your leg," Sean responded. Jake sighed and pushed himself against Sean's side more, causing the older to chuckle.

Willow and Luke on the other hand had forgotten about their worries, distracting themselves with conversations and mobile games. They were having a great time despite the worst day ever. That was until Sean's parents rushed in with Ms.Peterson.

"Are you ok? Are you hurt? Do you feel well?" Were the questions they were asked and so on. Mrs.Peterson looked at Willow and smiled.

"I'm glad you're alright Willow. You seem like a very nice young lady." Willow smiled at her compliment, feeling appreciated by someone other than her family.

"Thank you Ms.Peterson," She said in a friendly manner.

The yellowed eyed woman smiled. "You can call me Sherry." the woman said in a loving voice, a voice that reminded Willow of her Mother's before she died.

"Thank you," she said just as kindly.

Everyone continued to talk even when Jake started to get his x-rays. They thought that since Hailey had been captured, they'd be able to rest for the day.... And they could, until Luke saw something or someone on the roof across from the hospital.

"JAKE, WATCH OUT!" Jake looked but couldn't move in time as the bullet broke through the window, whizzing past Zoey and Lia. A gunshot rang out and he closed his eyes, ready for the pain. The pain that never came but instead, he was met with audible gasps.

He opened his eyes to see Willow in front of him, a bullet wound in her shoulder. His eyes widened, worried for his sister. Luke was somehow on the floor, staring in shock. Doctors came over to help Willow, and the police that were outside of the hospital began to make their way to the other building. Everyone looked terrified. Willow had been shot. A girl who had just survived a school shooting , had just been shot after fighting for her life.

About two hours later, the doctor came back with Willow asleep on a bed and x-ray results. "Jake, you're still going to need your crutches." Jake sighed and leaned against Sean's shoulder. Why did something always happen that caused his leg to get hurt worse? "Willow on the other hand, had to get the bullet removed since it didn't go all the way through. Instead, it had lodged itself between the shoulder blades and now it's unsteady. This means that she'll need a slingshot to help it heal." Tears began to well up in Jake's eyes. He was supposed to be the target, but instead his sister got shot. She got shot trying to protect him.

"I was going to take the shot but she stopped me." Luke said out of the blue, tears streaming down his face. He felt bad that he couldn't keep his word and protect her. He said he would and now she was going to need a slingshot. He suddenly wondered why he felt such a strong urge to protect the shorter girl. Did he love the girl? There was no way, he had just broken up with Zander about a month and a half ago. He shook his head at his thoughts, his face heating up by the second.

Thinking of the girl, she began to stir in her sleep, waking up to her shoulder feeling numb. "Why couldn't we get a break for the rest of the day?" Willow said, whimpering as the pain began to come back to her shoulder. Willow had just said the question, everyone was thinking, out loud. Why couldn't they ever catch a break?

Hey you guys! Sorry for the angsty chapters lately. As I said, I've been in a bad mood for a bit lately. I can't stop thinking about my life and comparing it to everyone else's. Jealousy just continues to course through my veins and I hate it. I shouldn't be upset with my life when other people in this world are doing worse than I am. I'm sorry for ranting about my problems to you guys but thank you for reading this if you did.

Love you all,

-Willow💜
