I returned home with my gifts for Hailey. Once I walked through her bedroom door, she crawled excitedly towards me. "Daddy!" She cried, wrapping her arms around my legs, "I missed you."
I smiled down at my baby. She was so perfect and had become just what I wanted of her. "I missed you too, little girl," I said patting her head, "you want to see what I got you?"
Hailey nodded eagerly, extending her hands. One by one I placed the gifts in front of her: a pink teddy bear, a Legos Friends play set, new pacifiers, and a few adorable outfits. Hailey squealed with joy, touching all her new items lovingly. She looked up at me, her eyes so innocent and smiled.
"I love you, Daddy."
My heart skipped a beat as I processed the words she had just said in disbelief. Taking her into my arms, I told her I loved her too.
Finally she was ready.
