Stark Industries. Los Angeles, California
Obadiah comes barreling down the sidewalk on a Segway, he is heading for riding up to one of the Stark buildings. Happy is leaning against the car outside the building. "Where is he?"
"He's inside." Happy tells him.
"She with him?" Obi asks.
"She is right here." Kindle pipes up from the back of the car. "Tony wanted a minute and I'm working on a new project." She looks down at her tablet. "It's time sensitive."
Obadiah looks at her. "Kindle. You did it. You brought him home. You can take a minute to rest." He assures her and turns towards the building.
Happy looks at her curiously as Kindle focuses on her tablet and contacts JARVIS to start working on alternatives for palladium power sources.
Obadiah goes inside to find Tony looking at the giant arc reactor at the center of the building. "Well, that..uh... That went well." He comments.
"Did I just paint a target on the back of my head?" Tony asks.
Obadiah scoffs. "Your head? What about my head? What do you think the over-under on the stock drop is gonna be tomorrow?"
"Uh, optimistically, 40 points." Tony estimates.
"At minimum." Obi puts his hands on Tony's shoulders. "Tony, we're a weapons manufacturer."
Tony sighs. "Obi, I just don't want a body count to be our only legacy."
Obadiah shakes his head. "That's what we do. We're iron mongers. We make weapons."
"It's my name on the side of the building." Tony reminds him.
"And what we do keeps the world from falling into chaos." Obi finishes.
Tony shakes his head. "Not based on what I saw. We're not doing a good enough job. We can do better. We're gonna do something else."
Obadiah scoffs. "Like what? You want us to make baby bottles?"
Tony turns and looks at the Arc Reactor. "I think we should take another look into arc reactor technology."
Obadiah waves his hand dismissing him. "Ah, come on. The arc reactor, that's a publicity stunt! Tony, come on. We built that thing to shut the hippies up."
Tony shrugs. "It works."
"Yeah, as a science project. The arc was never cost effective. We knew that before we built it. Arc reactor technology, that's a dead end, right?" Obi presses.
Tony shrugs. "Maybe."
"Huh? Am I right? We haven't had a breakthrough in that in what? Thirty years."
Tony smirks. "That's what they say. Could you have a lousier poker face? Just tell me, who told you?"
Obadiah waves him closer. "Never mind who told me. Show me."
"It's Rhodey or Kindle." Tony reasons.
"I want to see it." Obadiah Nasir's.
"Okay, so Rhodey." Tony opens his shirt to show him the reactor in his chest and the older man's eyes get wide.
