1. Warning: locked in a room
You might figured that out by reading the title ;)
2. Warning: panic attack

"Shit! He's here", Shayne recognized Anthony coming in. They were trying to set up a surprise for his birthday and they weren't ready yet. The others looked at Shayne as if he knew what to do. Now that no one else was doing something, he had to. "I'll figure something out", he just sighed and walked up to Anthony. "Morning! How are you? Do you have a minute?", Shayne asked not congratulating on purpose. "Ahh... Yeah, sure", Anthony shrugged and just followed the other one into the hallway. Shayne tried to find something in his pocket without having Anthony notice it. Ian gave him the keys to a storage room earlier so that he could get something for the surprise and he still had them in his pocket.

Anthony felt that something was off. He figured this had something to do with his birthday, so he just followed Shayne to the small storage room and entered. Before he even turned around, Shayne quickly left the room and locked the door. "I'm sorry", he mumbled and left feeling pretty bad about this. It would just be for a few minutes and the room wasn't dark, so it should be fine. And there was a surprise to be prepared. Anthony looked at the closed door in disbelief. That was not what he was expecting and it already felt bad.

Warning: being locked in, panic attack, and talking about abuse

What Shayne couldn't know was that Anthony had a history of being locked in a room. When he was about ten years old, he got locked into his room by a man his mom invited over sometimes and it was never just for a few minutes. He sat for hours alone in his room hearing his mom and the man he didn't even want to remember talk, laugh, and sometimes fight. It was always just because they wanted to be alone. More specifically, he wanted to be alone with Anthony's mother. His mom didn't even know about the locked door until the sixth time it happened. That day he had to spend so long trapped in his room, that he went through a panic attack all by himself.

Now he stood here in this room staring at the locked door. His mind switched into anxiety instantly. He felt the panic rising and knocked on the door. Maybe Shayne didn't get too far yet. "Hey! Let me out! Shayne! Please!", he screamed at the door, but he didn't get an answer. Shayne was gone already. "It's not for long", the voice of the man he tried to forget years ago echoed through his head. Clenching his jaw, he tried to get it out of his mind, but the locked door was the biggest reminder he could get. "Hello?! Please, open the door!", he screamed banging against the metal door now. "Open the fucking door!", was the last thing that left his mouth before he felt his hands shaking, his eyes tearing up and his heart racing faster and faster.

"You did what?!", Ian asked Shayne shocked about what he told him about fifteen minutes later. "Keys!", he ordered, and he immediately got them from Shayne. Ian knew about the old story and ran to the room Anthony was locked in. He was surprised not to hear anything out of the room when he came closer, but he still unlocked the door as fast as he could. Anthony immediately looked up when he heard the door and met Ian's eyes. "Are you okay? I'm so sorry!", Ian let himself fall to the ground next to his crying, shaking friend. „It's okay now. You'll be okay", Ian tried to calm him down, pulling him in a hug. „I... I... Can we get out?", Anthony asked whispering almost. "Sure. Yeah. Let's get you out of here", Ian told him before helping him up.

Still shaking, Anthony relied on Ian as a physical support while walking out of the small room. „You're out now, okay? It's over", Ian pointed out the obvious to help his friend realize it faster. „Oh shit! I'm so sorry, I didn't know... fuck, I'm so sorry!", Shayne met them in the hallway. „Later", Ian told him calmly because Anthony was definitely not in a place to talk. "Tell the others, we'll need a moment", Ian added. Shayne nodded and quickly walked back. "Do you want to go outside? Or just...", Ian was now asking Anthony who interrupted him: "Outside." So they went outside and sat down on a bench. "Can I do something?", Ian carefully wanted to know, but Anthony shook his head. This would just take a moment to go over. So they sat there for a while for Anthony to catch his breath and get his mind back to reality.

"Fuck, I didn't think this was still that bad", Anthony finally admitted. "I'm sorry", Ian just said. "I mean... you didn't lock me up", his friend smiled at him slightly. He looked exhausted, but he also seemed to get better now. "How long did this not happen anymore?", Ian wanted to know. "I don't know. Forever. Most of the people I know know that I panic in locked rooms that I didn't lock myself", he explained. "I should've maybe mentioned that in this office", he sighed. "Actually, Shayne just shouldn't lock people in rooms", Ian mumbled a bit angry. He hated that Anthony had to go through all that again. "I don't think most people react that strongly to it. Maybe, he should've just waited a second, so he could've heard me", Anthony said. "I'll talk to him later", he added with a small sigh.

"If you wanna talk... like... just in general", Ian hinted that he would listen. "Thank you, but I think I'll be okay. I guess you tried to prepare something?", he asked. "Oh, yeah. Happy Birthday, I guess. Man, that was a bad start to the day", Ian said petting Anthony's shoulder while congratulating. "Yeah", he just laughed. "I'd be ready to get back, I think", he added. „You sure?", Ian questioned. He got a nod, so they got back up. Anthony knew this would be going through his mind for a few more days, but right now he was okay and he wanted to get back to the others. It felt good that Ian was there though. He had just sat next to him calmly not pushing him to talk. His simple presence did help.

Back inside Shayne immediately came up to them apologizing repeatedly. "Just don't lock people in rooms", Ian said with a short mad stare. "I'm okay now. If you ever do that again to someone, just wait if they start screaming", Anthony said more calmly than his friend. He wasn't too mad at him. Shayne felt bad anyway and being mad wouldn't solve anything. "Are you ready for a surprise?", Shayne asked carefully after promising to never lock anyone anywhere again. "I don't want to have been trapped for nothing, so go on", Anthony joked a bit. That made Shayne smile and walk over to the others who had been looking over and mumbling the whole time. "Don't be mad at him, when I'm not. I'm okay now", Anthony quietly reminded Ian, before a loud "Happy Birthday", broke the silence.

I honestly don't know why I end up writing about stuff like panic attacks so often. I swear, I'm okay😅
