I landed on the hard ice in a sitting position, my arm and leg thrust out. Sure, it was a bit uncomfortable, but I was used to it. After being in this class for about a year, you've gotta learn something. "Good run girls!" wheezed Mrs. Schmitz, my ice skating coach. "Class dismissed! Addison, Emma, can I have a minute?" she said. I see a pretty blonde walk up to the coach. I've seen her, but I've never talked to her. I never talked to anyone. Because...of middle school. Anyway, here goes nothing! I skate to the end of the ice rink, towards Coach. "Girls, I've got a surprise for you!" she squealed. I groaned, did I mention that I HATE surprises! She ignored me and continued, "You both have been accepted into the level seven ice skating class! Congratulations! I knew you could do it! Get your parents to sign this form and come back Saturday. I'm so proud!", she exclaimed, putting her hand over her heart. "Okay, go get showered, shoo, shoo!" she grunted as she handed us papers. I have to admit, Mrs. Schmitz does sound like a dying donkey. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love her, but I'm just stating what's true. I grab my neon orange Nike backpack, and headed towards the girl's bathrooms. I tore off my black skating outfit and quickly showered. Putting on a yellow sundress and sandals, I slung my bag over my shoulder and picked up my white skates. I exited the building and waved at my father. We headed towards the gray convertible. As we drove, Dad asked me how my class went. "It was great! I got evaluated and made into the level seven ice skating class! I'm so excited! If you fill out a form, my class starts on Saturday, that's tommorrow!" I exclaimed. "That's great, Pumpkin!" he said as we turned up onto our driveway. I gave him my form and went to my bedroom and started packing for school, it was starting on Monday, three days from now. I was so excited. High school was going to be amazing! I finished packing and picked up my favorite book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I love Hermione!
Later that evening, Dad called me down for dinner. The aroma of the Singapore Rice Noodles that Dad brought, filled the kitchen. Lately, Dad had decided to try different styles of food. One week it was Enchiladas and Burritos, and the next week it was Crepes. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we had fried ants next week! Even though I was sick of not eating regular food, I was still in a good mood due to my acceptance into Level 7! Eee!
I filled my plate with the noodles and sat next to my father. There is way to much oil in these things. Ew! "So....what is the theme for next week?" I asked. "India!" He said cheerily. Indian food. I groaned. Why can't we just sit down and have hamburgers or something! "Addy, you can't go to your new ice skating class. I got a promotion. I leave Friday morning and come back Sunday night. I don't want you in and out of the house with no one around! It's hard enough letting you walk to the bus stop alone." I just nodded happily, until it hit me. No going to the higher level figure skating class. I simply nodded. I got up and rinsed my now empty plate, putting it in the dishwasher. "Good night." I said running up the stairs.
I lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling. I hear the door open and someone walk in. "I know you are awake Addy. I'm sorry, I really am. I'm just scared!" he said. "I know Dad. I love you for that. But I can take care of myself now. I'm going to high school. I'm not a little girl anymore! Please Dad, this means everything to me." I cried "I know honey, I know." he sighed. He kissed me good night and turned of the lamp. "I love you." he said closing the door. "I love you too daddy." I whispered.
Sunlight streamed through windows, illuminating the room with a bright, golden, glow. The smell of bacon, drifted through the house. "Yum!" I said, yawning. Ew! Morning breath! I quickly showered, and put on a jeans and a white T-shirt. I went downstairs to find a plate of bacon and eggs, sitting on the table. I shoved the food into my mouth. I can't believe that I'm going to miss a really good offer! When I'm sad, I eat. I finished my food and put the plate in the sink, calling for my dad. No reply. I shrugged and piled my red hair into a sloppy ponytail. I watched the news for an update on the weather forecast for today. 81% chance of rain in the evening. Great! Not. I grabbed my Harry Potter book and headed outside. I went and sat on the wooden, porch swing. I flipped the book open and started reading. I was on the part where they were getting caught in the Devil's Snare. I've always wanted to read Harry Potter. My dad got it for me as a Christmas present. Harry Potter books are so funny! I giggled when Ron sacrificed himself in the chess game. They are so silly! All of a sudden, I felt someone watching me. I looked around until I spotted a boy walking towards me. He lived in the house across the street. I had never seen him clearly until now. He had straight black hair and clear, blue eyes. He didn't have the body of a model, but he had the looks. He was hot. You need to pay attention to your education. You can't waste time falling all over boys. That's for snobs. I told myself. The boy reached at the driveway. "Can I enter?" He asked. "Are you a murderer?" I replied. "No!" he laughed. I signaled for him to come in. "Hi I'm Logan Armstrong. You?" he said sitting next to me on the swing. "Addison Jenkins. Call me Addy." I said smiling at him. "So, what did you come for?" I asked, trying to break the silence. "I've seen you around and I never got the chance to say hi. I always thought you were a private, snobby person...until I saw you just now. I just thought I'd drop by and say hi." he said, watching me. "Or did you come to murder me?" I grinned. A smile slowly spread across his face. "Oh no. I don't like that smile." I got up slowly, putting my book down. Right I'm a murderer!" He said running towards me. I ran towards the gate leading to the backyard. Just as I made it into the backyard, I was tackled to the ground and attacked with tickles. I couldn't help myself, I was laughing like a maniac. I couldn't stop squirming! Soon, I felt like I was about to die. He lay on his back next to me staring at the sky. We had just met, yet we acted like life-long friends. Weird!
"Addy?" he whispered. "Yes, Logan?". He turned on his side, putting his hand out. "Friends?" he said anxiously, as if I was going to say no. I stared at him in wonder. He wanted to be friends? With me? I nodded, surprised. I smiled taking his hand. My first friend.
