I've never heard my brother cry the way he did on the phone. It broke me down to see him so hurt but to kno my mom was sick was killing me more. We had been waiting for my mom to come home for an hour now. The tension was thick and depression filled the room.
Amber: Baby you want something to drink
Dj: Naw I'm good
He was on the edge of the sofa nervously playing with his fingers.
Amber: You Lexi
I sighed
Lexi: No thanks
Amber sat down next to Dj
Lexi: Where is she
Amber: I just think we gotta be patient with her ya kno
Dj: We have been she need to tell us what's goin on
My mom came in the door and we all looked at her. She kinda stumbled comin in the living room. We jumped up to help her.
Janet: Y'all I'm fine
Lexi: Are you sure ma
She raised her hand
Janet: let me sit down
We all sat down in the living room. She looked at me
Janet: I kno Dj told you I was sick
Lexi: Yea
My stomach was gettin sick
Dj: How sick tho ma
She sighed and a tear fell down her cheek
Janet: I have a brain tumor and it's getting worse
Lexi: What oh my God mama are serious
Dj stood up
Dj: How long have you known
He sounded and looked pissed. Amber looked at him with tears in her eyes.
Amber: Babe
She tried to touch him but he snatched away from her
Janet: It's been a few months, that's why I wanted to move down here
Dj: So you waited this long
Lexi: Dj please calm down
He inhaled and let go. He just broke down. Amber stood up and hugged him. My mama stared cryin. I got up and sat next to her. She laid on my shoulder and we cried together. After we had our crying games my mom explained to us what her doctor told her and how everything will be.

She sound like she was crying

She was quiet for a minute then she broke down and started crying hard. She was trying to explain but I couldn't hear her

She said sniffling

I could still hear the quiver in her voice
Lexi: The door is unlocked just come in.
We hung up and I headed over there. I walked in her apartment. Everything was clean and it smelled good. I called her name

She ain't answer but I heard cryin. I walked to the back and her room door was open. I walked in she was on the bed curled up and cryin. I climbed on the bed next to her.
August: What's wrong baby
Lexi: My mom
August: What about her
Lexi: She dyin
She started cryin harder. I laid back on the bed a pulled her to me. She laid her head on my chest. I could feel her tears seeping thru my shirt. I didn't know what to tell her
August: Whatever you need I'm here
She nodded her head then wiped her eyes
Lexi: I just never thought
She was choked up

She sat up against me and crossed her legs Indian style
Lexi: I don't kno what I'm gonna do without her

She sniffles then wipes her eyes

We laid there for a good while and fell asleep. We woke up to her loud mouth friend Tati

Lexi sat up and cleared her throat

I was laid back with my hands under my head when she walked in. She stopped at the door and looked at me

I got up and went to the bathroom. I couldn't make out their whole conversation but they were talkin about her moms situation.

I came out the bathroom and sat down on the bed
Tati: Ion kno maybe a cookout just some family and friend time

She slide off the bed and grabbed her phone

She left our the room. Tati looked at me then stood up.

She tossed her phone on the bed then crawled up next to me. I propped her pillow up
