"The Black Mask?" I look up at the familiar night club.
"It's the Golden Night now." Katana says, "Sionis killed the leader of the golden lions, and his whole family, so after he died, they took what they believed was rightfully theirs."
"Seems fair." I shrug, "But if the family died, who took over?"
"I don't know. Let's go find out." Katana replied.
We climb towards the stairs towards the club, until we're enveloped in velvet lighting. The club hasn't changed much, except for the influx of lion statues. And the dazzling, gold lion outfits worn by the entertainers. Speaking of entertainers, one in particular must have a strong gaydar, because she comes, hips swaying, right up to me while Katana orders us some drinks.
"Hi darling. Buy me a drink?"
"Er" I glance over at Katana with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't tell me that's your girlfriend." Pouted the dancer.
"No but-" Before I can finish my sentence, she plops down in my lap.
"Well then what are we having?" She wraps her arms around my neck.
I push her off gently, "How about you point me in the direction of the owner of this place?"
"All business huh?" She bites her lip.
I look down at my hands, "Do you know where he is or not?"
"What's your name?"
I glance at Katana, who nods, and I reply, "Ace."
"Oh really?" She twirls a piece of brown and blue hair between her fingers, "I've heard that name."
"Then go tell it to the owner please."
She sighs, probably getting the hint I wasn't interested. "I'll be right back."
I turn back to Katana, who's barely holding back her laughter.
"Shut up." I mutter.
The woman comes back a moment later, "They'll see you now."
"Who's they?" We follow her through the club to a backroom. I expect to come to a private booth like the Joker had. Instead, there's an entire lounge. She doesn't answer my question.
"Have a seat, they're a little busy and it will be a few minutes." She says.
"Thanks." Katana and I sit on one of the plush couches.
There's a faint sound of a gunshot in the next room. I guess the owner really is "busy". Katana and I exchange a knowing look.
In the meantime, apparently I was wrong about the woman getting the hint. She grabs a champagne glass and drapes herself across the couch next to me. She's gorgeous, but she's not Harley. She tries to hand me the glass, which I deny.
I pull a couple hundred out of my pocket and hand it to her, "I don't need a dance. Don't waste your time."
She narrows her eyes, but takes the money.
"Too bad." She runs a hand under my chin as she gets up.
The door to the next room swings open. In swaggers a woman in a huge fur coat. Even though the fur is black, I can still see the red splatters across it. She wipes a bit of blood from her face, then looks up.
A grin spreads across her face, as she throws her arms up, "Welcome to my humble abode!"
"Selena?"
Why is it always her?

Harley's POV
I'm starting to go crazier being cooped up in this fancy manor. Montoya won't let me leave until y/n gets back, so I'm bored out of my mind. I'm almost glad when the security alarm goes off.
"What's going on guys?" I ask the girls as I join them in the living room.
"Something tripped the alarm." Helena says.
"It's probably nothing, but we should still do a walk around the perimeter." Dinah adds.
"Great! I hope it's an intruder!" I swing my bat over my shoulder. I need to bash some heads before I completely lose mine.
"I'm going with you!" Cass joins me.
"No. You're going with me." Montoya says.
"But-"
"Come on."
"Fine!"
I never claimed to be a good mentor, but I am sick of Montoya constantly acting like I can't take care of Cass. Something about me being a "bad influence". As if I haven't kept her alive this long. But now isn't the time to get into it. I twirl my bat in frustration, and head out the door to do my own perimeter check.
I wander around at the end of the property, between the house and the forest. There's nothing unusual. I whack a couple of trees with my bat. Boring. I head back to the courtyard. There's a ring of old statues in the middle, just standing there. One in particular kept looking at me funny.
"What are you looking at?" I squint my eyes at her, but she doesn't look away.
"Tough guy huh?" I twirl my bat again, pulling back to knock her stone head off.
Before I can, a voice stops me, "The statue is innocent, I already interrogated her."
I whirl around, but there's no one there.
"She's not innocent! She's hiding something!" I argue, "Also... who is this?"
"Your girlfriend is in danger." The voice says, "Ace is your girlfriend, isn't she?"
"Of course! And what do you mean she's in danger?" I grip my bat tighter, "Are you threatening her?"
"No. I need your help. We have to find her before Waller does." The deep voice says.
"Can I know who I'm talking to? Because none of the voices in my head sound like this." I put a hand on my hip.
A dark shape emerges from behind a different statue. It's my dear old friend batty.
"Oh." I smile, "Figures. Are you recruiting Ace for the Avengers?"
"Harley... the Avengers aren't real." He sighs.
"Of course not." I wink knowingly.
I don't know why he suddenly looks so tired.
"If we find Ace, are you going to arrest her?" I ask.
"I don't think I could even if I wanted to." He says, "Something is happening to her, Harley. She's going to need our help."
"Then I'm in." I hold out my hand for him to shake.
"That easily?" Batman asks, and I see his eyes narrow suspiciously even through the mask.
"Of course! It's for Ace!" I shrug, "Plus, I'm BORED!"
He shakes his head, then reaches out to shake my hand.
"Since we're a team now, can I have a bat mask?"
"No."
