"Flag, some weird shit just went down." I report back through the earpiece.
"Care to fill me in?" He sighs
Katana took over, filling him in on the scene. June definitely isn't here. She also told him about the kid.
"Kid?" Flag said,
"Yes." Katana confirms,
"Did she see either of your faces?" He asks,
"I doubt it." I reply, "She seemed more focused on getting away from us than identifying us."
"I think you should check for more clues. It may be abandoned, but you never know." He says after a pause.
"You're right." I agree, "Something happened here. Something big. I'm just not sure what yet."
"But be quick." Flag adds, "That girl may be working for Waller. We know she isn't below recruiting kids if it means she has the upper hand."
"You ever think Waller is just as bad as the people she fights against?" I suggest."I'm starting to."
Katana and I explored the rest of that floor, finding nothing of interest. The floors above it were essentially empty, so we proceeded to the second floor, and then the first. Surprisingly, Katana wasn't hard to work with. She just did what she had to do. It reminded me of my days working with Selena. There were more of us. Those days were good fun on occasion. Groups of girls with wild colored hair going on missions, destabilizing the police, seducing and destroying rivals. Harley probably would have loved them. Of course, most of them are probably gone now...
"Ace, look at this!" Katana calls.
I follow her voice into an office off to the side. Whoever worked in this room shared their office with the records room. Filing cabinets that used to line the walls are turned over, records and data flung all over the room. I pick up one of the papers off the floor. In bold black lettering, written across the top, "A.R.G.U.S.".
"Holy shit."
Katana looks at the file over my shoulder, and I quickly add, "Waller is in charge of Argus. They're in charge of the suicide squad. Er, you probably already knew that. Duh. sorry." I realize.
"It's fine." Katana brushes over it, "But now we can be sure that this is Waller's doing. She was here. And so was June."
"And the rest of this?" I add, "She must have been here awhile."
"Maybe. For now that's just speculation."
"I thought Wayne took over Lexcorp." I frown.
"It's likely Wayne and Waller have some kind of deal." Katana shrugs, "She seems to have ties with everyone."
I nod, picking up another file, "These look outdated."
"I'll look through these. You look for other clues." Katana instructs.
I agree, mostly to escape the boring task of looking through all that paperwork. If I wanted to do that, I would have become a secretary. I return to the main room on the first floor. A lot of it was offices. Weirdly, there's a receptionist desk which I searched through. Nothing worth noting there, except a notepad. On it is written a code, which was odd. I didn't notice anything that required a code. Below the code on the paper is just written 'F'. Weird. I stick the pad in my pocket and continued exploring. More offices. Boring.
I wander into another records room, bigger than the last. I checked the drawers, but they were empty. I was just about to find my way back to Katana when I noticed something out of the corner of my eyes. In the back of the room, there was a space between two of the cabinets, that I could almost fit through. It could just be a design flaw, but more likely...
