Scream7: MATURE FanFic Thriller/Written by Nathan Banks/Chapter2: Too Close!
It was the end of the shift for him tonight as he took off his security jacket and hung it up closer as Mark Kincaid gathered his belongings before Mark headed back home for the evening. Once he has everything Mark clocks out and leaves the office then heads to the parking lot. As he shows up there, he sees his co-worker Darryl Buckner (Kevin Soto) getting out of his car.
Darrly – Hey Mark!
Mark – Hey Daryl, how's it going?
Darrly – Everything is good. How's the family?
Mark – They're doing fine, I can't really complain you know. The kids are growing up like weeds these days and so fast at the same time.
Darrly – You can never take family for granted these days because you never know what'll happen next.
Mark – Amen to that. Anyway, I am heading out for the night, see you tomorrow morning. Don't stay up too late.
Darrly – Ditto.
Both men wave to each other and Mark approaches his car as he opens the door. For Darrly, he leaves his car but drops his bag in the middle and notices it.
Darrly – Let me get that.
As he's about to reach down and grab it, suddenly a car speeds down to run him over. Mark gets out of the car and runs up to him.
Mark – Darryl! Are you alright!?
Checking on Darryl's pulse, he didn't feel anything as the man looks around the parking lot not seeing the car around anymore. Hearing his cell phone ring, Mark takes it out and looks at the caller ID that said 'Unknown'.
Mark – Who is this?
Voice – Long time no see Mark. I take it you and the family have been out in hiding.
Mark – I ASKED you a question, WHO IS THIS!?
Voice – Take a long guess Mark, you've known me very well and if you thought what happened to your friend sucked...well...this is going to suck even more.
Mark – Are you the one that killed Darrly!? What the hell did he ever do you!?
Voice – So? Your buddy was nothing more but a casualty all because of you and that tramp ass wife of yours.
The call ends as Mark tries to speak again but there was no one else on the line. Mark looks over at Darrly and goes back to him to feel another pulse but there's nothing. Darrly is dead and now this person, whoever is responsible may be coming after him and his family. No one is safe.
