Dean's p.o.v

After sending a few texts to his brother and ordering a book, Dean decided to look more into his issue and what Castiel had explained to him earlier, and everything he read pointed to Castiel being right. And maybe a part of him wanted this to be right, a small part of him not wanting to be broken by his assault anymore.

He pocketed his phone, meeting the stares of everyone that came in surprised to see him collared and standing there. A part of him falling back into his old lifestyle, looking over everyone that came in assessing who was a threat and who wasn't. Deciding what he would do if someone did try to start shit, this was a Novak business after all, not a Winchester one, and Castiel did get pretty upset with him when he intervened last time. Plus, it's not like he had any weapons to help out, the hired hands of Castiel walking the halls way better equipped than he was just standing here with nothing more than a phone in his pocket.

In all his watching, though, he did notice one guy that seemed out of place. He had a cap on, and his hood pulled high over it, obscuring his face. Most of the people walking around the lobby were dressed as if they were going to some fancy dinner party, the brothel definitely catering to upscale clientele, not some place to come for some cheap dirty fun. And every worker that he had seen too seemed healthy, well taken care of, and at the very least not miserable.

Dean watched as the guy approached the lobby area, it seemed like everyone understood to move past this point you had to sign in, even if you were just going to the bar, but he kept his head low working through the crowd. He got to Dean and shouldered past him, bumping into him and not even glancing up at him as he kept making his way down the hall. Dean looked around, and no one seemed to even notice the guy. But he just didn't feel right about it, he realized that while setting up his phone he didn't get Castiel's number. He double-checked it, and currently, his only contact was Sammy, who still hadn't replied to his texts.

He looked around catching a guy he recognized from the penthouse as one of Castiel's and grabbed his arm, "Hey did you see tha-" he tried to get out but the guy jerked his arm away from Dean.

"I don't remember anyone telling you to fucking touch us. You're just a fuck toy for the boss. You're meant to stand here and look good so do that, silently." The man spat at him.

Dean took a few breaths calming himself, "Fine but-" but before he could finish the guy walked away. Dean looked back down the hallway for weird hoodie guy but couldn't see him. He still felt uneasy about it.

Then he remembered Castiel set up alerts on his phone to see everything Dean was doing. So he opened up the notes app on his phone and typed in, 'Someone that doesn't seem like they belong is here.' He saved the note and pocketed his phone again, hoping Castiel saw it.

Castiel's p.o.v

Cas saw the note Dean saved on his phone while he was running and hoped Jacob hadn't done anything to him yet. Once Cas was nearing the front hall, he slowed, gaining his composure just as Jacob was making his way for Dean. "Jacob. What are you doing here?" He said, coming up behind Dean. Dean turned wide eyes between Jacob and Cas at the mention of his name and taking in Cas' stance, guarded beside him.

Jacob looked him over, then looked Dean over. "Thought I'd come check in on you darlin'." He said, easily giving Dean a lookover.

Dean straightened his back to the accent, and Cas could feel his fingers beside his start to tap together. Cas grabbed his hand, not wanting the man to show any weakness in front of a Styne.

Jacob quickly caught the movement, looking at Cas' hand wrapped around Dean's, his eyes narrowing. "And I thought I made it at least a little clear to lose this new pet of yours flower?"

"Don't fucking call him that." Dean snarled at the man. Cas looking up to him, he hadn't gone into any details of how Jacob had ruined him or even that flower used to be his nickname for Cas. But Dean seemed determined not to let Jacob disrespect Cas in his own place of business.

Cas turned a smirk to Jacob at Dean's comment. "Oh your little dog has a bit of a bite, huh? That's not what I remember of him." Jacob said looking over Dean again.

Cas felt Dean's fingers tighten in his own to that comment. His stance opening more as if he was posing for a fight.

"I suggest you shut your God damn mouth Jacob, before I let Dean here really show his teeth and take your disgusting ass down." Cas shot back through clenched teeth.

"Oh really? Well -" Jacob started before he was pushed aside by some guy in a hat.

"Fucking die, Novak!" The man shouted as he lunged for him.

"Castiel!" Dean shouted as he used their conjoined hands to maneuver Cas behind him just as Cas saw a flash of a knife coming for him.

He watched as Dean punched at the ratty looking man holding onto the knife between them. He had let go of Cas' hand and pushed at him, Cas losing his footing and falling to the floor. He heard a sharp intake of breath as he could tell even from his position Dean was struggling to subdue the guy for some reason, even though he should have the advantage with how much bigger he was from his attacker.

Benny rushed forward from he didn't know where, as Dean landed a solid punch to the guys temple, knocking him out. Benny quickly caught the guy dropping him to the ground and securing zip ties to his wrists.

People around them were shouting and rushing for the doors, Jacob was being helped up by his own two men that had accompanied him here, looking over Dean with a smirk. Cas quickly jumped to his feet, grabbing on to Dean's shoulder to spin him around to him so he could yell at him for once again, putting himself in such a situation. But as Dean turned to him, Cas' face fell as he noticed what Jacob had been smirking at. A knife protruding from just under his ribs, blood slicking up his shirt, his hand still holding onto the blade before pulling it out and dropping it, he looked at his hand with a deep gash across every finger, the blood dripping to the floor as Dean held it in front of his face.

Cas grabbed for Dean as his knees buckled, blood quickly pouring from his stomach onto the carpet below, "Fuck, Dean?!" He shouted at the guy who was drooping back into his arms, his color quickly leaving him. "Dean!" He said slapping at his face trying to keep him awake. "Benny! Fucking do something!"

Benny quickly left the man that had attacked Dean, a few of his guys picking him up to take him away, Benny leaned down looking Dean over raising his shirt to see the terrible deep knife wound there. He picked Dean up, "We gotta get him help, quick." He murmered to Cas who just nodded wide eyed and covered in Dean's blood as he stood to follow after them.

Jacob grabbed his arm with a grin, "Seems like the problem's taking care of itself."

Cas glared at him, "I swear to god, if this was you, I will end you before you even know what's happening. If he dies, you're fucked." He jerked his arm from Jacob running after Benny, he climbed in the backseat of one of their cars where Benny deposited him, Cas placing a hand on Dean's stomach and pressing hard to stop the bleeding as Benny got in the driver's seat and quickly sped for the hospital.

When Cas pressed his hand down onto Dean's injury to slow the bleeding, Dean gasped, his eyes popping open and him lurching forward from the pain. "No, no, don't move, Dean, you'll make it worse," He tried saying in a soothing tone, but he was a little panicked so it probably didn't come out as he wanted it to. Dean settled again, looking up to Cas as his eyes started to droop again. "No, you fucking stay awake. You better not die now or I swear to god I'll kill you." But Dean's eyes shuttered closed.
