Nathan was the only one I ever told. I don't think there was anyone else I could have trusted; not even Mollie. It killed me telling him but when it was done, it was like a weight had lifted off my shoulders. I felt stupid telling him though. The whole thing was stupid. I didn't even know him, but for some reason it seemed like I did. I could be lying in bed one day and just think of him. It wasn't normal though. It was like I was there watching him carry on with his life. I remember the first time it happened. I was sitting through a Maths lesson, not having a care in the world. Suddenly, an image of a middle aged man, flashed upon the inward eye. He was tall and slender, nothing like I had ever imagined as a small child. He had big, blue, prominent eyes of steel; just like a river. I had never seen this man before, but I felt like I knew him. I knew he was my dad.

On this particular day, he appeared to me before battle. At the time I didn't know what was happening, or why he was pulling on a khaki outfit. It took me a while to realise that he must have been in the army or something along the lines. This was all I ever knew about him until I found the letter.; the letter that left me wanting more. I was determined to find out more, even if that meant getting arrested once again. First though, I had to get out of the predicament I was currently in.

The cell that morning, still had the same old smell. However, it didn't stop me thinking of him. Even time I thought of him, the scenarios he faced, were somehow similar to the ones I faced. As I lay there in the bed, eyes blood shot from the lack of sleep, he flashed upon the inward eye once again. The tears pricked my eyes before forming a steady river down my cheeks. He sat there, hunched over. His thin frame was scary, but less scary then the bloody and bruised face that he showed when he sat up. As he sat back on the bed, I realised where he was; a prison cell. I didn't know the man and without realising, I was turning into him. It wasn't a good thing though. My father was a criminal. That didn't matter though. For once, I saw his face. It was like looking in a mirror; well, not really but you get what I mean. I had inherited his looks and that wasn't a bad thing!

I turned in the bed and faced the wall. It had a cold feel about it. Nathan moaned under the covers in the bed parallel. I sighed and closed my eyes but I didn't have an urge to sleep. I tried to take my mind off my dad but I couldn't. I tried to focus on moving in with Nathan that evening but it didn't work. Nothing was going to cheer me up that dreary morning. Nothing.

'Nath?' I whispered barely audible. No answer. 'Nathan?' I called in a slightly louder tone, but still no answer. 'NATHAN JAMES SYKES!' I called even louder. Guess what? There was still no answer. I untangled myself from the blanket and walked the floor towards him. I grabbed the blanket with both my hands and pulled it at high speed. To my surprise, it wasn't Nathan. It wasn't even a man; it was a woman. 'Sorry' I gasped as I gently placed the blanket over her head and returned to my own bed. I was in shock. I felt my cheeks go hot and turn a fluorescent red with embarrassment. My heart was fit to come loose in my chest. Where was he? Not only did he leave, but also without a word of goodbye.

I wandered up to the cell door and knocked intensively. I continued knocking until I saw a butch face at the other side of the window. 'Yes madam?' He sighed. 'Where is he?' I spat.'Who? Where is who?' He asked a little dissatisfied. 'Nathan, the man that I was brought in with' I told him. He looked at me blankly before replying 'I'll find out.' With one swift hand movement, the window was shut once again but I still stood there, waiting for the police officer to return. If I stood on my tippy toes, I could see him talking to the woman behind the desk. They looked in my direction, before both shaking their heads simultaneously. He fiddled in his pocket before making his way back to the door, with his keys in his hands. The key turned in the lock and I was free.... Until he handcuffed me. 'This way madam' he sighed, leading me down the long white corridor.

I expected to see Nathan in the room he took me to, but he wasn't there. I was severely disappointed. I was instructed to sit down by the table and wait for the inspector to come. I tapped my hands on the table with nerves. My heart rate began to plummet with anticipation; until the inspector burst in through the door and frightened the living daylight out of me. 'Where is he?' I asked as she sat down before me. 'Who?' She asked. 'Never mind' I whispered. 'Ms, I have some news for you. It's not good.' My mouth dropped and I to a lump in my throat. I wasn't sure I wanted to hear it, but that didn't matter. He was going to tell me anyway.
