Nathan's P.O.V*
It was the last thing she needed now. Showing her the letter would result in her having a breakdown and I couldn't watch that happen. It would be the final nail in the coffin for her. Maybe I could just hold onto the letter and give it other at a later date when she felt better. I stuffed it into my back pocket and continued to clear the empty drink bottles.
She sat there huddled in a tight ball in the corner of the sofa. Not once during the ten minutes I watched her for, did she move her eyes from that one spot on the ceiling. She let the hot chocolate I made her sit there untouched and go cold as the credits of The Lion King began to appear on screen. She didn't blink; not once. Occasionally a tear would drip from her right eye and land delicately on the cusp of her upper lip. As weird as it sounds, she looked beautiful. It was like she was crafted from a perfect piece of porcelain and placed delicately to sit on the sofa. Deep down I was fighting the urge to kiss her. I would have given up everything, including my music career just to be with her. I wanted to be there for every one of her downfalls, kiss her better and celebrate when things got good.
She began to hum softy before singing at almost a whisper. 'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. So please don't take my sunshine away.' She closed her eyes and shook her head. 'I need to be alone' she whispered before getting up and leaving for the kitchen. The door behind me closed and locked in its turn. Her faint sobbing could be heard when I placed my ear upon the kitchen door, followed by faint yelps of pain. I know exactly what she was doing but I couldn't get in to stop her. The smashing of the glass gave it away for her. I could almost feel my heart shatter into a million pieces. I needed to do something to stop her.
'Freya! I love you' I called through the door. 'I love you too Nathan' she called back. As weird as it sounds, I felt complete. I had been building up to this moment, wishing that she would say those three words back to me and when she did, it was amazing. 'Freya, come out please' I pleaded. I knocked but she didn't answer. All she did was shuffle behind the door. I had never been so scared in my life. I feared that she would do more than cut herself. I grabbed my phone from my back pocket, opening the browser and typed in 'how to get in a locked interior door without a key.' I needed something quick and effective. That's what led me looking for a paper clip and a hammer. The hammer came in handy when flattening out the paper clip. The flattened piece of metal slotted in between the door frame and the door. It took a bit of fiddling with, but the door was open in a moment.
I found huddled in the corner, sobbing tears of pain. Blood trickled on the ground from the wound on her right hand. She didn’t look up to see me standing there, she just continued to sob. All I wanted to do was to take her into my arms, hold her and tell her that everything was going to be okay, but she wasn’t going to listen to me. Seeing her so fragile and helpless brought a tear to my eye. Knowing how much pain her mother caused in her life over the last few years, grieving for her wasn’t going to change. The fact that she had been driven away from her in her last few days, certainly wasn’t going to help either.
‘Freya’ I whispered. ‘I’m sorry’ she replied, speaking through the tears. I shook my head. I crouched down beside her and just stared at her. For once I was speechless. ‘Why me?’ she asked. ‘Why does everything happen to me? I grew up without a father. My mother was an alcoholic. I was anorexic and bulimic. My mother recovered my alcoholism and then turned back towards it again, before dying as a result of it. How fair is that?’ she asked. Her head remained bowed into her hands. ‘That’s just the way the cookie crumbles Frey. We can’t change it. This phase of hardship in your life should be your drive for success. Something like this would hold a lot of people back but you can’t be known as part of that majority. Go to college, get your degree in Media and Journalism and make you parents proud wherever they are; six feet below, a million miles above or wherever. Cry for a week, cry for a month, but when that period of time has elapsed, go ahead with your life because Frey, you’re special and don’t let people tell you otherwise.’ I told her. Her head lifted showing me a side to her that I had never seen to this full extent; her vulnerable side. Her eyes were red raw underneath, but her mascara had run making her look like a native Chinese animal. ‘You look like a Panda’ I laughed. She whimpered like a little child. She let out a little smile, displaying her lovely white teeth.
My heart starting beating at one hundred miles per hour. I knew she could sense something was up. ‘Nath, what’s the matter?’ she asked. I just shook my head. ‘Nothing’ I replied before leaning in. We were so close that our noses were touching. I could smell her sweet breath immediately. She became closer. Our lips touched before moving in sync. My tongue begged for entrance which she granted. And then….there was a knock on the door.

Hey guys! How are you all on this fine night (it may not be night time where you all are, so I do apologise) I've updated faster than I initially thought I would because I was going to run a competition for this. However, I may still do that! If you want me to do one comment below and let me know if you would enter or not and then I shall see how things are going! The competition would entail you finishing a piece of work that I have prepared so that I could use it for another chapter update! Anyways, I don't want to make this speil too long so I'm going to finish and say that there are only about 6-7 more chapters left in this so please, be prepared for an ending! I don't want to disappoint you all when it ends around chapter 20 or so (it may even end sooner), However, I do know where I want things to end with this and it is exciting! My lips are sealed!
