As the sun descended toward the horizon, the boys found themselves gathered around the steps of an abandoned building in Sentoruisu. Though pressed for time, their hushed conversations echoed through the tranquil evening, fleeting respite before their imminent return to Buaisōna.

"What you gon' do with a vulture sculpture twin?" Kodomo chuckled as he nudged Furai.

"I like vultures!" Furai responded nonchalantly as he marveled the brass sculpture.

Besū looked over at Kūrī.

"A DVD player?" Besū questioned as the device sat in Kūrī's lap.

"So I can watch Paprika!" Kūrī answered plainly as he held the stolen movie case in the air.

"This vool got a teddy bear?" Tankue cackled as he snatched the bear out of Kure's hands.

Kure snarled as he snatched the bear back out of Tankue's grasp. "Aye vro, I got it for someone else man, chill out!"

Tankue smirked. "Yeah right—"

Besū looked over a Kamiwaii and noticed he was fixated on the plant.

"Kami? You found some good ones?" Besū asked.

Kamiwaii plucked several ripe berries from the Saboten plant, depositing them into a glass medicine vial containing a gelatinous mixture to kickstart a fermentation process. From his hoodie pocket, he retrieved a plastic orange pill container then extracted nine fermented berries into his hand.

PROPANE

"Yeah, here!" Kamiwaii stood then distributed the capsules to everyone before casually leaning against the tall pillar ascending the stairs. With a flick of the wrist, he effortlessly threw the depleted plant over into the woods across the street, then raised his capsule into the air."These are the last ones I've got, so enjoy them. It'll be a few weeks before I have more!" All complied, tossing back the Propane capsules in unison. As they chewed, they watched in awe as the vibrant vapor billowing from their mouths and noses surrounded them, the mysterious substance enveloping them in a surreal haze.

Sutō: Onyx
Kodomo: Mauve
Furai: Amber
Bēsu: Crimson
Kūrī: Lapis
Kinso: Sage
Kure: Ivory
Tankue: Honey

Kamiwaii deftly deposited the capsule into his mouth, capturing it with his molars. With a satisfying burst, vapor flooded his mouth, a dance of colors swirling before his eyes—first a deep onyx, then a delicate ivory, next a classic platinum and finally a rich lapis lazuli—each hue dissolving into the atmosphere.

The transient spectacle caught Kinso's attention. Observing with a blend of amusement and concern as the vapor from Kamiwaii's capsule dissipated.

"Wait, how come you always get all those colors from the propane?" Kinso questioned.

Kamiwaii shrugged his shoulders as he continued to chew.

Kinso's eyebrow furrowed.

"So nobody ever notices that we get like one color out our smoke and Kami gets a clusterf*ck!" Kinso replied.

Everyone looked around as the realization dawned on them.

Kinso eyebrow raised in suspension.

"That don't concern you at all vro?"

Kamiwaii paused on the thought then tsked. "Nah, not really, hasn't killed me yet, so—!"

"—Don't start talking like that right now vro!" Sutō cringed.

"My brother is just curious vro, I think we all are now—I mean for real, what do you think it means?" Furai chimed in.

Kamiwaii took another pause then huffed.

"I mean I thought about it, I guess it has something to do with us individually, our aura or something—."

"—Our functions—" Besū responded.

"Here he go—" Kūrī joked as he nudged Kure.

"I figured it has something to do with our ability's aura!" Besū assumed.

"Our functions have auras?" Kinso's questioned.

"That's all that's coming to me now!"

"It would be—" Kodomo laughed.

"I mean—We can't really ask anybody about it, they'll know we're using!" Kūrī acknowledged.

"Yeah, you right! They suspect anything, they'll kick us out for sure!" Kure said.

Abruptly, the sounds emanating from the forest on the opposite side of the street became audible.

The boys stood motionless.

Haunting calls of nocturnal creatures, the  rustling of leaves in the breeze, the occasional crackle of twigs, and the rhythmic chirping of insects filled the air.

"Aye, where we at?" Kūrī asked as he looked around at his surroundings.

"Ask Kami vro, he the one who brought us over here!" Kure shrugged.

"Aye man y'all relax, let's just have some fun before we have to head back home." Sutō encouraged.

Kami chuckled.

"If I asked y'all to go inside with me, would y'all?"

The sounds emanating from the forest grew louder. When the boys turned their gaze towards the woods, Kamiwaii discerned a sizable figure emerging in the distance.

"Aye, y'all see this sh*t?"

"See what?" Sutō asked.

"Yo, that giant black thang running towards us."

Everyone began to laugh.

"Kamiwaii stop playing vro, you trying to freak us out! Tankue cackled.

"Nah, I'm not playing! LOOK!"

All eyes were focused on the woods.

It was getting closer.

"That's a dog vro, calm down!" Kodomo chuckled.

Kamiwaii tsked. "Be f*cking for real my n*gga! Does that look like a damn dog to you, Besū?"

Besū focused his vision as the large figure continued towards them.

"That is NOT a dog!"

Tankue began to panic. "Im finna shoot that nig—" he said as he reached under the back of his shirt.

"No crazy sh*t Tank!" Sutō said cutting him off.

The sounds of crunching branches and rustling leaves intensified as the figure drew within a yard's distance.

"Yo what the f*ck is THAT!" Kodomo tensed up.

The enormous form rushed them while on  all fours. Everyone rose to their feet, preparing for whatever might come. As the figure reached the forest's edge, it abruptly rose onto its hind legs.

Kamiwaii began to panic.

Sutō noticed.

Kamiwaii took a step forward, positioning himself in front of his friends, ready to take the brunt of whatever awaited them. Sutō quickly grabbed his arm, stopping him in the process.

"Kami—"

"F*ck that,watch out—"

As the figure reached the street, it stepped into the illumination cast by the streetlight.

"What the f—"
