Scars glanced at Puss, and then O.
"I can't be sure. He looks very familiar," he said, gesturing to Puss. Puss tried not to appear frightened, when in actuality he felt like he was drowning in his own sweat.
"I've seen these before," he continued, walking towards O. "An O-600. Best craftsmanship in any of our war technology. This one's in especially good condition. Usually, they come back with their circuits fried or their exteriors covered in blood."
Puss prayed rapidly that they wouldn't be caught. Scars walked over to him and looked straight at his face. "No tengo ni una idea where I've seen you before. Probably just in the barracks, I'd guess."
Puss detected a hint of falsity in his voice. Something was amiss here.
Carnage looked at Scars. "Oh, for heaven's sakes, let them be on their way then. Efficiency in our empire is key."
"Wait just a moment, mi amor," he replied. He looked at Puss closer, and Puss saw a flash of evil glee dance in his eyes.
He leaned in and whispered directly into Puss' ear.
"Lu omni elipsor, de flori skala."
Mierda, mierda, mierda, Puss' head screamed rapidly. They had to get out of there. He wanted to tell O, but if he said anything, Carnage would kill him right then and there.
He froze, not saying anything, and then Scars pulled a handgun out of his belt. He pointed the barrel between Puss' eyes, and then everything became a blur as he fired.
The shot rang out, and Puss saw O falling to his mechanical knees with a bullet hole in his circuit board, black oil beginning to leak out and pool on the perfectly clean white floor. Puss' head was filled with a painfully high frequency ringing, and O said, "It's been an honor serving you, Señor Puss" in what to Puss sounded highly muffled. Tears came to Puss as he realized the full horror of the situation. O uttered his last breath, and his lit-up eyes faded into black.
Puss heard Scars shout, "HE'S A TRAITOR! KILL HIM!" in his direction, and before Carnage could mutilate him or Scars could shoot him, he did the only thing he knew how to do in the moment.
He ran.
