Scars (Part II of J.H. White's Puss in Boots)

Chapter Twenty-Three: Defeating the Undefeatable

Puss lunged backwards as Scars shot more red sparks. It was then when he pulled out a staff, split it into two parts, and flew at Puss with electricity surging through both ends.

"You can't defeat me, you earthly creature. I am everything. I am everywhere."

Puss drew his sword and collided his weapon with the electricity. Sparks flew across the room.

"You...will never win," Puss growled. "There will always be someone in your way."

"Then I shall break them down to dust, just as I am about to do to you."

Puss pressed harder into the electricity with his sword, and all of a sudden one of the staff's pieces flew out of Scars' reach, and Puss took the opportunity to stab him, taking out his eye and scratching up the right side of his face.

Scars swore, and then struck Puss in the stomach with his remaining stick, blowing him backwards.

"You cannot defeat the undefeatable, Puss in Boots," Scars said.

"You know, you should have your own play for the level of cagada you spit out," Puss sneered.

Scars backed him into a corner and struck him in the face. Puss screamed as he could feel a section of his fur melting off, knowing that he was badly injured.

Puss fought back against Scars, parrying with his sword and driving him across the room.

Kitty got in on the fight and stabbed Scars in the ribs with her dagger. He pulled the weapon out quickly, splattering his own blood across the floor, and then he threw Kitty five feet.

"BOTH OF YOU ARE FOOLS!" Scars shouted, his pupils gone, replaced by pure red. "I WILL LIVE FOREVER! YOUR EFFORTS ARE USELESS!" He conjured up a spell, and shot a beam of red electricity that eclipsed the entire room, temporarily blinding Puss and Kitty and ripping every object in the hall to shreds.

"BOW BEFORE THE MASTER!"

Puss could barely see, but he reached for his sword on the floor and flung it in Scars' direction. It was a direct hit. Right in the heart.

Scars coughed, then slumped over and began to bleed out. He groaned in pain, swearing multiple times.

Puss walked toward Scars triumphantly, a defiant frown crossing his face as his enemy breathed raggedly. 

"You know nothing, Puss."

Puss knelt down close to him, and unsheathed his claws, digging them into Scars' neck and prompting a low malicious hiss.

"Maybe there are some things I don't want to know."

"What about what the words mean? Lu omni elipsor, de flori skala. 'The past is the future,' Puss."
