"You," Scars gasped.
"You are so naive," the female growled. "You can't kill me. I have collected five times the bounties that you have. You really thought because I'm a woman, you could overpower me that easily?"
Scars blushed. This was actually exactly what was running through his head, but he tried to act like she was wrong.
"I defeated Puss in Boots," he lied. If she thought he had killed the legend, maybe she would be more afraid, like everybody else who had crossed him. Puss was the most feared outlaw in Spain.
"You're a liar," she said.
"You think I'm lying?" he said. "I'll bring you his head. I have it on my mantle."
She scoffed. "Fine. Five days. You have five days to show me proof that Puss in Boots is dead, or I will hunt you down and cut off YOUR head. There's a high bounty on you, but he's higher." She turned and leapt onto a roof on all fours.
"Five days." And then she was gone.
He sat there and swore. He had one hundred and twenty hours to take out Puss in Boots.
He was angry with her, but he still kind of loved her. This was his chance. His chance to show her how ruthless he was. Then she would fall for him.
He stared into the black void that was the city and smiled.
Puss would be dead by this time tomorrow.
