Puss woke up from what seemed like a bad dream on the tile floor. He realized almost immediately he was in Scars' tower. Yes. He wasn't dead. Kitty wasn't dead. He had survived the SIM. But then he looked up and saw Scars holding Kitty's weapon to her throat.
He stood up, thrusting his sword in Scars' direction. "YOU BACK AWAY FROM HER, PERRA!" he said, his confidence restored. He had beaten Scars' trial. He would kill him right then and there.
"As you wish," Scars said, dropping Kitty to the ground. "I'm honestly surprised you survived the trial; I'm not going to lie. You are strong, but my power is without your mortal constraints." Red sparks shot out of his paws and blew Puss backwards into a wall.
"You've known what I am all along, Puss. I never died in the war. You didn't kill me in that field, either."
Puss looked at him in terror. "You."
"That's right," Scars said, as his features slowly contorted, first resembling a hairy flesh spider, and then shifting into the form of a donkey.
"I am the Master."
