Thanks so much for reading onto chapter 2, it means way more than you think(: I hope you guys enjoy!
It wasn't a terrible night, he always sleeps better when we are together. But it was seven in the morning and we both had to wake up before we would be late for our first day. I was so excited to go to a new school! Well that's what I had to make everybody else think. Alec and I both got dressed. I decided to wear a maroon tank top, blue ripped shorts, and some black flip flops. It wasn't anything fancy, I just didn't want to stand out. I decided I should at least brush my hair and put on my glasses. Yeah I wasn't really big into makeup anymore since I didn't have anybody I wanted to impress.
My little brother came out wearing a white shirt, khaki shorts, and some vans. Alec has brown hair and brown eyes, and he's tanner than me and almost as tall as me. We don't look related at all but I guess that's how genetics works. He looked really excited and I guess his excitement is enough for the both of us.
Mary Ann called up to us to come down because we needed to leave. Yes, I know how to drive and I do have my license, but they didn't trust me to drive, I couldn't blame them.
Alec's school was closer than mine and before he got out of the car I wrote, 'You're going to do great, make some friends, if anything is wrong text me okay? I love you.'
He smiled and told me things were going to get better and he happily walked into the school. We already had our schedules and maps of the school, thanks to Mary Ann, who wanted our days to go as problem free as possible.
I saw the high school looming ahead. It wasn't terrible big, only about a fifteen hundred students. The first thing that caught my attention were the swarms of people who knew exactly where to go or where their friends were. This made me start playing with my hands, I always used to do this when I felt very anxious or might possibly have a panic attack.
Mary Ann saw this and said, "Everything is going to be fine, if anything goes wrong, just text me and I'll pick you up okay?"
I could tell she cared for me, even though she hadn't seen me in years and so I wrote 'Thank you,' and took my first step into this nightmare.
It was called ShadowView High School, and everybody looked like they grew up together. That was fine, I didn't need to make friends, I just needed to get the credits to graduate. At this school, seniors were required to take six classes instead of the normal eight everybody else had to take. It was block schedule which meant that on Monday we had all our eight classes from eight in the morning to one thirty in the afternoon. And then on Tuesdays and Thursday's we had our odd classes and on Wednesdays and Fridays we had our even classes from eight in the morning to three in the afternoon. I know it's a pretty hectic and confusing schedule but I think I got the hang of it.
My classes were AP Literature, AP Government and Economics, French 4, Honors Anatomy, and then I had two periods of study hall. Yes I'm a smart cookie who cares about her grades, I used to love school yes I was such a big nerd. Now I just want to get out of here so I just needed to pass all these classes. Even though I didn't talk anymore and wasn't myself, I still knew I would care about doing my work and studying because it would distract me for hours and that was good for me.
I walked into my first class, AP Lit, five minutes early so I wouldn't make a huge spectacle. I walked up to the teacher who looked to be about in her thirties and genuinely nice. I handed her my schedule and immediately her eyes sparkled with recognition, I guess Mary Ann did email all my teachers about me not speaking. She smiled and introduced herself as Ms. Clark and immediately I knew I was going to like this class. She told me it was a rather small class and that I could sit on the third seat in the third row. I smiled and wrote out, 'Thank you.' And she didn't look at me strangely either. I waited and kept staring at the clock until the dreaded bell rung and students started coming in. I kept my head down and tried to blend in, I kind of wished it was a bigger class but luck wasn't on my side once again. Everybody was talking to each other and I just sat looking down. The guy on my right suddenly poked me and gave me a confused look, apparently he had said hi a few times but I was too distracted.
