-Flashback:

My parents went to the grocery store, last minute like always. I was watching Big Hero 6 with Alec and then we finished Despicable Me as well. It had been three hours and they still weren't home even though they would always be back within the hour. I called countless times, I came up with multiple scenarios, the lines were long, traffic jam, etc. I was supposed to hang out with Luca that night but he ended up coming over once he knew how worried I was. We passed out waiting, and then I heard someone knocking, and after a few knocks I got up. I checked my phone and it read 1:38.

It was a police offer. They died in a car crash, my mom died in the ambulance on the way there and my dad died on the table. The doctors did everything they could but they couldn't save them. It wasn't my parents fault, at least that's what they told me.

I turned the off switch after that. That's how I ended up being a girl and a whiteboard.

-Present:

"Is he going to wake up?"

"He's stable for now and there's a good possibility that he will."

"Thank you."

I walked towards Annabelle. Her mascara was running down her face and her body was shaking with sobs. I couldn't imagine what she was going through. She had to watch her son and hope that he opens his eyes. Andrew was always her rock, and now he was gone.

I grabbed her hand and squeezed it, "Look over there."

She was in shock, "Annabelle please look at the monitor." She turned her head towards the monitor.

"That's his heart beat, it's still beating, he's still here with us." She choked back a sob and then crushed me into a hug. I hugged her as tightly as Andrew would.

"I'm sorry I'm the one who's supposed to be strong here."

"No it's okay to cry."

"Thanks Emory, I should go to Lily."

"Lily's fine, how about you go take a walk or go distract yourself for a while, it always helps me."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes give me your number and I'll call you if anything happens."

She gave me her number and then she hugged me once again and left.

I turned back and looked at Andy.

"You know this isn't fair right. You didn't even get the chance to ask me, and I didn't get the chance to beat you to it." I thought he would wake up and laugh with me but he didn't.

"You need to open your eyes, I miss them. You need to be there for Lily, she needs you to teach her and love her and be there. You need to be there for your mom, she's going to fall apart without you, she needs you to keep going. And Matt and Oliver need you, there can't be the three musketeers with only two people. People need you. I need you." I was trying so hard not to cry but I just couldn't help it."
