Jay's pov:

"Come on buddy, just hang in there" he said while carrying the blond boy.

When he had first saw him in trouble with the knight. Jay had jumped into action, telling his friends to keep going. He didn't thought that said guard would give them so many problems. Now, he was carrying the passed-out boy in his arms. Hoping he could get help on time.

As he ran as fast as he could (which wasn't as easy as he thought), he saw dark marks slowly appearing on the boy's face. Another set of horns started to grow with the ones that were already visible. Adorning his head with a new pitch black lock.

"Cole! Vania!" he shouted as he saw his friends. They were talking with the fire elemental they had just snuck out.

"Jay? What the-"

"Help him first, I'll explain everything later" he panted as he reached them. Vania's face was shocked at seeing the new dark lander. But they immediately got into action.

"Lay him here" Vania said as she took out the medical supplies she had just got.

"Jay, explain what happened!" Cole ordered as he moved some branches out of the way for him and the blond boy.

"He was in trouble. A knight had caught him, so I went to help him. But during the fight he was hurt with a dagger, I think it had some kind of poison" Jay said while laying the boy down and pointing to the wound.

Vania quickly used a bottle of water to clean her hands and started cleaning up the wound.

"I'm not sure I can take out all the venom. The best we can do is patch him up and let him rest" she said, still trying to clean the cut.

"Wait, I have seen this before" a female voice said from behind the golden-haired girl.

"This venom is not lethal, but it does take anyone down within a few seconds" the fire girl said as she inspected the wound.

"Seconds? Well, he lasted longer than that before going down." Jay replied.

"Maybe it was the adrenaline of the moment?" Cole suggested while helping Vania to clean the last of the venom they could and started patching him up.

"He should rest, give him a couple hours or so until he wakes up. Maybe even more..." Vania said as she finished with the bandages.

"Alright" Jay sighed.

"I saw him on town... I didn't realize he was an dark lander..." Vania whispered to herself, looking at the boy. "We have to get him out of here."

"Maybe I can carry him, we still have a long way to get back to the others in the headquarters" Cole said.

"I'm not sure, it could take us longer. And he has to rest properly. And with the soldiers behind us, we can't risk it" Vania said while getting up. Jay took off his mask and eye patch, revealing his bicolor eyes.

"What about this? I can stick with him until he wakes up while you guys go on. We'll catch up later." Jay suggested.

"Jay-"

"Cole, it'll be fine. We can't stay here any longer so please, trust me." He understood why Cole was this skeptical, it was nice knowing he worried for him. But they had to keep going, he was not going to risk his brother being caught just because of him.

Everyone stayed quiet, none of them talked. It was Vania who broke the silence with a sigh as she made her way to Jay.

"Here, don't waste it" she said while handing Jay some bandages. "Only for emergencies, and don't bother him. He just needs some sleep, got it?"
