I knew that Percy had been less than thrilled about my choice to bring Cameron onto the team and into our home here.
The kid had a gift.
Rarely did you come across kids like him and Peter but when you do you have to nurture them, train them because they are the future. What else will I leave behind when I go?
Peter didn't need to live in the tower because he has his ridiculously attractive Aunt and a stable roof over his head. Whereas Cameron didn't have such privilege. He'd grown up in the foster care system and not much was known about his background or where he came from.
I couldn't leave a kid with a mind like his to waste away in some jacked up foster home with sociopathic carers.
It was well into the night now.
Cameron had his head down at a desk, scribbling with an electronic pen onto a holographic screen.
"Whatcha got for me, kid" I asked, clapping my hands together to wake myself up.
He snapped his head up with an enthusiastic smile.
"So, I was looking at the structure of Mr. Barnes's arm and I think we can give him a way better prosthetic" he said.
"How so?" I frowned curiously.
He waved me over excitedly and I smiled fondly at him.
"We can use the cradle to trial some human-like tissue but interweave it with vibranium threads and find a way to connect it to Mr. Barnes's neurology" he explained passionately.
I thought for a moment about it's probability.
"That's...genius" I laughed.
"Really?" Cameron smiled.
"Well not me genius but smart, kid" I joked, patting his back.
"Well how come you didn't think of it?" He retorted with a snarky smirk.
He reminded me so much of me.
"Let's get Barnes in here" I said. "Friday!" I called into the air.
"On it, Boss" she replied already knowing what I wanted.
