She was pretty close to her mom, she was enamored with the books her mother bringed, these were fantasy stories and Kara wanted to live in a world that was like the stories she read
Her mother had a difficult pregnancy and birth, she died after giving birth to her stillborn brother, her father was distant towards her and her twin brother, Lancelot after her death, he also verbally abused them whenever he had the chance, Kara found comfort on the books her mother gave her, she wanted to runaway from home and live in those magical places where nothing bad happened
She didn't want to live with her father anymore, she made the plan to escape along with her brother, during their escape her brother called her crazy and that they were going to die, that's when they found a portal and being the little kids they are they entered, they found themselves in a magical world, they never returned home
They were both in a search for something: a family, they went through many adventures and places, fought monsters and were gifted with fortunes, their lives have been like that for years until they were 13 they heard from someone about the prophecy, the prophecy said that a human was going to go through a portal and defeat the lord that bringed despair to the inhabitants of the magical realm, Kara and Lancelot were interested, I mean, they were both humans and came through a portal, the thing is, there was only ONE chosen one
They asked more people about the prophecy, and when they got all the info they needed they started traveling to Diuslotha empire, they got into the eldritch forest and they meet the demon twins
Lancelot, when searching for animals to cook, meet Einer and Erick, they presented themselves to the twins, Kara asked about the prophecy and Erick told them that his father knew more about the prophecy and they followed them to Zalaph, Zalaph told them about the prophecy, that they were a good guy and the rest were evil, and that they luckily could save Erick and Einer and take them under their care, Kara immediately believed them
When finding herself getting closer to Zalaph, she also found herself closer to Erick, they were like a battle couple, they started dating immediately
Kara meet Sid when battling against the order, they found it weird that Kara believed she was the chosen one even though she was siding with enemy
Zalaph tried to manipulate Kara against Lancelot's side, telling her that they believed Kara was the chosen one and Lancelot wasn't, they only managed to manipulate Kara, they weren't that successful with Lancelot
Kara's relationship with Erick went from bad to worse, Kara noticed Erick getting more distant, and everytime she confronted Erick they always started arguing, not only that, buy they also had their disagreements, Erick wanted to take over the order and Diuslotha empire while Kara didn't, even if they were bad, there was no need for them to go as far as take over them, it was against what Kara standed up to at the start, this made her doubt Zalaph's motives
Lancelot and Kara later found out that Zalaph had manipulated them into thinking he was the good guy, they tried to make Einer and Erick come to their senses but it was futile.. at least on Erick
They explained everything to the order, Magnus wanted to know if one of them was actually the chosen one, the way to find out is taking a sword out of a rock, the chosen one is the only able to take the sword out, it has been there since lord knows when, they both tried and tried but they couldn't take the sword, meaning neither of them was the chosen one
Magnus thought they still had potential, so he left them under the royal family's care to train them
Kara was pretty upset several years later when the actual chosen one appeared, she always claimed she lived there longer than them and she had more experience, she became her mentor, she later learnt to see Layne as a person and not just the chosen one, she continued to train them and teaching her everything she knew
