Mitsuha POV:
"Mitsuha." Taki called me, making me look up. "Ah? What's wrong?" I asked. "Are you okay?" He asked as he came over to me and held my hand. "I'm okay. Why do you ask?" "Then why are you packing a skirt in your bag instead of your laptop?"
I looked down and realised that I was holding my skirt which I wanted to wear today for office and trying to push it in my office bag. I laughed nervously before I placed it back on my bed and placed my laptop in my bag. "Mitsuha, what's wrong?" Taki asked, holding my hand.
"Nothing's wrong Taki. I'm okay. I'm sorry for worrying you." I replied. I didn't want Taki to know what I was thinking. Taki was already broken enough to know the bitter truth of his own father. I didn't want him to know about his mother as well. Taki sighed and gently pushed my hair behind my ear, making me look at him. "You know you can tell me anything, right Mitsuha?"
I looked down, feeling guilty for not being honest with him. "I know. But... I just... don't feel like talking about it." I said, making Taki look down. "I see." "I'm sorry Taki." I apologized while looking at him. "No, it's okay. I can understand you need time." Taki replied while smiling at me, making me smile back at him.
"Well then, shall we go?" Taki asked, making me nod. The two of us went to the car, where Hodaka was already waiting for us. Once he saw me and Taki, he opened the back door for me. I thanked him and got in, followed behind by Taki. Once Taki got in, Hodaka closed the door and walked over to the driver's seat and started driving.
The drive was quiet as I looked outside my window, enjoying the scenery. From the corner of my eye, I could see Taki look at me, although I couldn't understand how he was feeling.
Taki looked down, his heart shattering to a million pieces. 'Is it... because of me again?' He sighed as he looked forward, returning to his ice-cold face. 'Taki... you're truly pathetic. It's okay. We're okay the way we are now. All I ever want... is for Mitsuha to have a happy life. Even if it means... I'll not be by her side anymore.'
'I know I'm being selfish. I stole her away from her love, Teshigawara. But please.... please let me be selfish. Just for a little longer. Once the time is right... I swear I'll let you go.' The car pulled over in front of The Tachibana Industries. Taki put on an ice-cold face and got out of the car before he walked over to my door and opened it for me.
As I got out, my leg hit the frame of the car, making me trip over and fall on Taki as my shoe fell off my leg. Taki stumbled back a bit but managed to stabilize himself soon enough while holding me by my waist. "Are you okay?" Taki asked, making me look at him and gasp slightly with the short distance between us. "I'm okay. Thank you." I replied politely and tried to move away, but Taki's hands seemed to be locked around my waist as he kept looking at me with those beautiful, dark blue eyes of his.
I blushed as I stared at his handsome face. Taki smiled and gently touched my lips, stroking his finger over my soft muscle before he kissed the same finger, his lips getting stained with my lipstick in the process. I blushed in embarrassment, pushed him away and walked inside the building, my face turning all different shades of red.
Taki smiled slightly before he picked up my shoe and followed behind me, putting his cold facade on his face again. "Mitsuha! Good morning!" I heard a familiar voice call me, making me look up and see Saya-chan waving at me. "Saya-chan! Good morning." I waved back at her. "Mitsuha, good morning." Tessie said from behind Saya-chan. "Good morning, Tessie." I said while smiling at him.
Did I really like Tessie earlier? Somehow... that feeling of getting a spark or butterflies in my stomach, which I used to get earlier whenever I saw him just wasn't there. Right now... I felt nothing. Looks like I finally moved on from him.
