Everyone followed after one another; making sure to keep up with the sisters up ahead. Maggie was still screaming but Beth was just screaming the words, 'What's goin' on?' There was no answer. Running into the prison; everyone was taking sharp turns left and right. They all finally made it to Hershel's cell and once Beth got in, she just stared.

"Oh." That's the only thing she could say. Maggie was on her knees in Glenn's arms, sobbing and screeching every so often. Rick looked around sighing harshly.

"There's no sign of what could have caused this." He paused looking at the very sick Hershel in bed. "None of us are sick, and this man never showed any signs of being this way. Maybe he will be okay. Lets just give it today and if he's not better in the morning then Daryl, Michonne, and I will go on a supply run to get some medicine." And with that, he turned and walked out; Daryl nodding.

Beth turned and walked out; along with everyone but Daryl, Maggie; and Glenn.

Glenn was still clinging to Maggie; but she pulled away, telling him to leave. The Korean obliged and kissed her forehead; standing and walking out. He nodded at Daryl as he stood in the doorway, watching.

Maggie knelt down beside Hershel's bed; grabbing his hand, tears still evident. She sighed and stared at him for a few minutes before speaking to her resting father.

"Go ahead dad, it's okay. Be peaceful. You don't have to fight." Then her tears rushed down her face; her sobbing starting again. She laid her head down on Hershel's chest, shaking violently. Daryl shook his head; turning away and walking towards Beth's cell.

He made his way over to the girls cell and stood in her doorway; watching as she took the 3 off of the sign that said. 'This workplace has gone 0 days without an accident.'

Beth turned and seen Daryl staring at her; causing her to sigh and look down.

"You okay?" His voice was low, but the worry that was wedged inside; was evident. Beth looked up and shrugged.

"I guess I am."

Daryl nodded slowly; still leaning against the door frame. He scanned her room; a small lamp that was lit. Pictures on the wall; and a diary sitting on her tabletop. He then heard Beth continue to speak.

"Are you?"

He never thought about himself really; but now that he did he realized something.

"Gotta be.." He mumbled. Staring at Beth awhile he realized that she wasn't crying after seeing her father the way he was. The girl seemed to take notice as to why he was looking at her the way he was.

"I don't cry, Daryl." She stated, shrugging and sitting down on her bed; patting the open spot for the older man. He walked over to her slowly and sat down, looking over at her. The way her beautiful blonde hair fell in front of her eyes; and the way it sat in her ponytail. He loved it.

"Why's that?" He asked after a moment of silence.

"Just don't. It happens after awhile, y'know?" She sighed and looked at Daryl, their blue eyes meeting. He nodded and rubbed his face; thinking.

"Can I tell you somethin' though?" He asked; raising his brow, earning a nod from Beth. "Never get too attached.." He said, voice low but still audible. He looked down and sighed, his eyes squeezing shut. "Because one, they'll eventually end up leaving," Pause. "Or two? They die."

Beth opened her mouth but shut it shortly after; taking everything in at once. Daryl took notice and bit his lip; putting his arm around her and pulling her close to him. Her body tensed and she took in a sharp breath, the man took notice and rubbed her arm softly causing her to soon relax in his touch. Daryl knew something was up with this girl but he didn't really know what; so he suggested something.

"S'go take a walk." He said; feeling Beth pull away and stand up, smiling. That was the trick to get her to open up, or so he thought.

"Let's go then." She said happily.

Daryl stood and walked out of the room; Beth behind him. He went into his cell at first to get his crossbow and then grabbed a knife and a gun for the girl.

"You're gonna need these." He mummers, tossing them to her. Once she caught them; they proceeded to go through the prison doors and into the sunshine.

Daryl noticed Rick and Michonne were taking watch so he shrugged it off and started walking around with Beth. He looked over at her and watched her kick a rock along the way, causing him to shake his head.

"Spill it."

"What?" Beth asked, lifting her head and looking at Daryl.

"I know somethin' is wrong with you. And I wanna know what it is that's botherin' you apart from Hershel. Cause I know that's not just the issue." Beth nodded and kept walking; processing everything.

"Well," She started. "You said not to get attached to anyone, and I am thinkin' that maybe you're right about that. Daryl nodded and looked down at his feet. "I mean, we all see how it ended up for Rick. And Shane. And who else?" The girl shrugged and continued. "But I'm just wonderin' if that's why you're so cold."

Daryl stopped in his tracks and Beth did the same; waiting for his reaction.

"Is that why you're so cold?" She asked, inching forward some. Daryl just looked at her, hoping she would know that she was right. Which she knew.

"Oh.. Don't let this world make you bitter, Daryl. Don't let the actions of other people turn you cold on the inside. Certain things happen' that hurt us, people come that leave us. Like you said could eventually happen, and most of all there are moments when you're bound to fall.. Don't let those things make you unkind. It's okay to cry, it's okay to be sad. But I know I hide all of that; but it's just because I don't want my daddy seeing me that way."

She paused and looked at Daryl, who was still looking at his feet. So she continued.

"But it's never okay to do other people wrong just because you were done wrong. We're human. We break. We make mistakes. But don't let pain and sadness run your life. Wake up in the mornin' and do what you think is right. There are moments in your life where you feel like givin' up and you can't take it anymore. It's okay. Breathe. Inhale. Exhale. I know you can be weak. But the things that show your weak side are also the same ones that make you stronger in the long run. It's all about takin' whatever this shit life throws at you, and learnin' from it."

Daryl looked up, tears in his eyes. He's never heard anything like what this little farm girl has said, and he's never got teary eyed over anything anyone has ever said. He looked down at her lips; feeling this urge to just go for it.

All of a sudden Beth felt Daryl's rough lips pressed against hers. His hands were placed on her waist and her arms wrapped around his neck. She never felt anything like this before and her life, and she couldn't help but smile once he pulled away.

The feeling that was inside of Daryl, was ecstatic. He looked down and chuckled, placing his hand on the back of his neck.

"Lets get walkin' shall we?" He asked, looking into her amazing blue eyes. She nodded and grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers.

In that moment? She knew she was falling for this dirty, amazing redneck.
