"Cash... Kashim?" Looking at the information I gathered, a country neighboring and rival of Valur. Oh wait, it's not, it's an "Alliance of countries, huh?" Of course, having a territory the size of the continental United States minus Alaska is simply plain impossible to effectively control with their current tech, mixed with late medieval and some early modern stuff.

Then I closed the reports and proceeded to sigh as I stretched my stiffening neck. I scanned my office, clean and neat—something extremely impossible for me to have a few months ago. I couldn't even do laundry, nor able to use a washing machine, let alone maintain this degree of cleanliness.

Well, I do simple chores, but having this level of cleanliness and neatness, with everything lined up, is plain impossible. Being a governor and having a lot of home services sure is convenient.

What about during my school days? Well, you gotta do some shady things no matter how tiresome it is to get some commendation. I gained some plus points while helping my teachers with various tasks at school, it's a beneficial win-win relationship. Being academically and physically competent doesn't guarantee good ratings. To ensure that, you should be able to maintain a good relationship and familiarity with your teachers and other faculty members.

Then, with a light knock, I snapped back to reality as the door slowly creaked opened, revealing my familiar trusted aide. "Governor, good morning," it's Nathan, greeting me as he stood before my sight.

"Morning too," I replied in short as I opened the report once more.

"Early are we?" he asked with some familiarity, making me feel comfortable. It was a welcome change from the stiff and formal replies of people around me. The constant formality felt suffocating, like there was an immense distance between me and other people in Cignus that they couldn't engage in casual conversations, no matter how much I implored them.

I just wanted to talk like a normal person — why did people keep fearing and respecting a pretentious person like me?

A self-deprecating smile soon blossomed on my face as I shrugged off those thoughts. "Yeah, got up early, so I might as well go to the office early," I replied.

"Is there a problem, Governor?" Nathan asked, likely sensing my thoughts.

"No, it's nothing," I replied. I fetched a couple of documents from my messenger bag and spread them out on the table. "Some weirdos kept throwing stuff directly at me without getting the consent of parties involved here," I said to Nathan as I handed over the papers to him.

"Hmm," he uttered as he read the document in hand. "This is about the textile sector requests for arachnid silks to be harvested," he said, studying the information seriously, skimming through it before moving on to the next one. "I get it now," he said to me, his expression showing some difficulty looking at me before composing himself in front of me.

"In simple words, they're asking you to order the demi-humans to provide raw materials like silks or de-skinned leftovers of lamia as materials for their industry," Nathan explained without any hesitation on the subject matter.

"That's the fucking problem," I uttered as I looked at the soft copy of the document on my phone. Nathan sighed, probably accustomed to my rants, but letting it go as usual, especially since we were in private. "Because those idiots will not refuse if I order them," I said, emphasizing the point. Nathan nodded in understanding.

Considering those women kept calling me their patriarch, it was increasingly annoying because I had to take responsibility for something I didn't want. They would follow my orders without a doubt, and I didn't want to take advantage of that. I might be an asshole, but I'm not a complete scum. While I could potentially return the favor, it was challenging at the moment as I focused on fixing the problematic xenophobic tendencies and god-who-knows questionable common sense in Cignus before acting for their safety and benefits.
