Chapter 16

Aarohi pov

He was badly injured. His right hand and right leg was fractured. His forehead was bandaged. I was sitting on the chair which was near is left side. After seeing his condition I started crying. He was trying to console me.

But I know I am reason for his condition. I will just cancel the marriage. If my parents say something I will just go away somewhere , where no one knows me. Atleast after that the stalker will stop troubling the people around me. I won't get close to anyone so that he won't get the chance to hurt anyone.

With a newfound determination I stopped crying and looked towards his face.

As if he knew what I am going to say , he said, "Don't. Don't even think about it."

"But that's the only way you can be safe. I don't want you to die."

I won't be able to live with the thought that I was the reason for his death.

"Whatever happens I won't agree to cancel this marriage. I will do something about it. I am not coward." He said sternly.

"But-" I tried change his mind. But he cut me in between.

"End of discussion. We are not discussing about this again."

I just kept quiet after that. But I felt I shouldn't have said this.

"I am sorry."

"I am just disappointed that you are ready to give up on us for these small matters. I know this violence is new to you. But I am living in this violence my whole life. And this is not new to me. So you should get used to it."

"I don't think I can used to it. But I am sorry. I can't see you in this condition. And knowing I am the reason, I didn't feel good."

"Okay leave now. I had taken lightly about this stalker but he has crossed a line. I will make sure he suffers for everything he has done for us."

"Does it hurt?"

"No it feels good." He said sarcastically.

"Stop. Do you want something to eat or drink?"

"Just stop. Everything is near to me. I don't have to worry about anything. So now you should also stop worrying."

After that we both talked for a while. It was noon. His mother came and called me to have lunch. But Atharva wanted to have lunch with me. So everyone decided to have lunch together in his room itself.

His mother was not like the usual mother in law as they show in tv serials. She was very jolly and sweet person. First I was a bit reluctant to speak with her but after some time I was speaking freely with her. His sister and brother were not there. And even his father went to work as Atharva won't be able to attend any work. It was just three of us and we had fun.

She was even saying childhood stories of him which were very funny. His cheek was red the whole time due to embarrassment. After that he distracted her and sent her away.

Then I spent the whole day with him. It was already night.

"Don't overthink about this. Just go and take rest. I know you haven't slept last night."

"Okay. You take care. And you know if you receive a call you are supposed to pick up the call and you know talk to that person." I said sarcastically.

"Okay madam. I will pick up your call. Now go home. I will send a driver and go home, take rest. Okay?" He said and kissed my forehead.

"Okay. If you have any problem call me immediately. I will be here."

He mumbled something like 'Problem..but you can't help me now.'

"What you said?" I asked raising my eyebrows.

"Kuch nahi."(nothing)

"Okay take care. Eat the food given by aunty and take the medicines in time. Don't throw tantrums like you do in the afternoon. Okay?" And I kissed his forehead.

"Okay. Stop now. I am not a child. I will take care of myself."

"Right. You are not a child. You are an infant. Fine now?" I asked, amusement dancing in my eyes.

"It's not funny. That was so lame."

"If you do something like this it's a nice joke. But if I did it's lame."

"You are absolutely right." He said in a smug tone.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Okay bye."

"Now now don't be angry." He teased me.

I went outside and his driver was waiting down. I was thinking about the stalker the whole way. I don't know what trouble he will bring me next.

After reaching home I messaged Atharva informing that I reached and also reminded him to take rest.

Then I slept as I was so tired.

AFTER FEW WEEKS

It's been few weeks after that incident. He has recovered and is already going to the work. After work everyday I would visit him.

He is saying that he is making a big plan to catch that stalker. But he has not given any clue about the plan.

I was working and I received a text from Atharva saying that he wants to meet me. I replied okay. And involved myself in work.

It was evening and I went outside. I saw his car and went towards it and sat inside.

"Can't you lean on your car and scroll through your phone?"

"Huh what?"

Shit. I said it out loud.

"It's nothing."

"Madam it's freezing cold outside I can't stand in that cold." He said in an amused tone.

"What did you want to talk about ?" I changed the subject. I didn't want to embarrass myself further.

He didn't say anything. And he took me to a fast food stall. And he asked what I wanted to eat, I said I wanted to eat pav bhaji. Then he ordered pulao and we both were eating.

He was silent not speaking anything. I felt has though he was nervous. He was not normal today he wa acting weird since I met him.

"What happened?"

"Actually I wanted to say something. No I mean I wanted to ask something. Shit."

"Are you okay?" Now I am concerned.

" I think it's time for us to get married." He dropped this bomb on me. I just stood there like a statue not knowing what to say.

It's been a while guys. And sorry I was not able to update last week.
