POV; KIARA CARRERA

I SPENT WHAT felt like an eternity in silence, heart pounding in my ears as I anxiously waited for the boys to return with Sarah and Bree. My senses were heightened, straining to pick up every sound outside the container.

If they needed me, I wanted to be ready to jump out and rescue them at a moment's notice. But all I heard was the oppressive heat suffocating me. With each passing second, the air felt thicker, and I became more acutely aware of how hot it was in this cramped space. Sweat trickled down my forehead and pooled at the nape of my neck, making it difficult to keep my eyes open.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the heavy silence outside. "Hey." It was a whisper, but it sent my heart racing. I strained to hear, peering through the gaps in the wall. "Hey. Open it."

I sprang to my feet, adrenaline surging as I quickly removed the grate that covered the opening, leaving just enough space for Pope to clamber back inside. He fumbled momentarily before finally sliding in, visibly relieved.

"I thought Rafe got you guys for sure." I breathed out, the weight of worry lifting slightly as a sigh of relief escaped me.

"Nah, we're chill," Pope said with a casual shrug, though my heart was still racing. Chill? Really? I thought, unable to shake the ever-present anxiety that clung to me.

Then, one by one, John B and JJ navigated through the space. When I finally caught sight of them in one piece, safe and sound, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"All right. Okay, let's put the grate back on." I said, preparing to help secure our makeshift hideout as I waited for JJ to pull himself fully inside.

I grabbed the edge of the metal grate, but then Pope stopped us. "No, wait. Hold it." My frown deepened at his sudden hesitation.

"What? No. Put it back!" I furrowed my brows, irritation bubbling beneath the surface.

Before I could leap onto the box and close the gap, a head popped through the hole. My heart skipped a beat as my gaze locked onto the stunning girl with dark, tousled hair. It felt like time stood still in that moment. She hopped down effortlessly, radiating confidence that was palpable, even towering over me slightly.

Our eyes met, and I couldn't look away from her captivating brown irises. She wore a baggy black tee and oversized jorts, and a nose piercing caught the light just right, making me weak in the knees. I found my throat going dry as I stole glances at her lips, which were curved into a mischievous smirk.

"Kie?" Pope's voice broke the spell I was under, pulling me back to reality. I felt shaky as I turned away from the girl who now stood leaning over me.

Next, another girl appeared from behind her, this time a black girl wearing a dark green hat, her hair pulled back in a braid.
