We last read Chapter 19, in which the Warden of the Utah State Correctional Facility attempts to lead the four Watchwomen to Ivan and Gill's cells so they can try to ask them about the mysterious red dust vials which are allegedly the key to safely neutralizing the Diamond Legion's assassins, who are all most likely brainwashed. However, to everyone's horror except the Warden---who had already discovered it---both Ivan and Gill had committed suicide by hanging within their respective cells, their lives and reputations having been utterly ruined by their former boss Allie Bannister the moment they decided to defect and turn against her. Specifically, Allie filed an anonymous and false assault allegation against Ivan---with the general public coming to her defense immediately---and also sent a Diamond Legion assassin on a stealth mission to Gill's house to download several terabytes of CP onto his desktop, which he was later busted for.

The Watchwomen learn this after retrieving two pieces of paper from Ivan and Gill's orange prison jumpsuits. In their last messages, Ivan and Gill cryptically allude to Allie Bannister's endgame, warning that the future will be "bleak indeed" should the heroines fail to stop her. Additionally, Gill confirms that the red dust vials are able to cure the Diamond Legion's brainwashing, and provides a number for the Watchwomen to call once everything has calmed down, promising that it will help them gain another lead.

The four girls then exit Ivan and Gill's cell block to discover that the Warden has been killed, having been fatally shot by a Diamond Legion trooper during the hectic firefight within the USCF courtyard. They then resolve to get to the central watchtower at the center of the yard---where Duncan's airship currently rests---and use it to escape the facility.

This time, we see if they succeed.....

The Watchwomen fanned out across the USCF inner yard, each carving their own paths to the central watchtower while taking out any hostiles and getting the survivors to safety. Now, the once-orderly courtyard had fallen into absolute chaos, with at least four factions present, though only three were really vying for supremacy.

The Watchwomen's main goal was escaping the USCF, and their objective was Duncan's airship at the top of the central watchtower.

The security and defense teams of the USCF were focused on trying to corral the inmates and fight off the Diamond Legion at the same time, though they were admittedly doing a very poor job at it before the Watchwomen began assisting them.

Lastly, the Diamond Legion and its expansive army had only one achievement in mind; finding and eliminating the Paragons present at the USCF, while also killing anyone and everyone who prevented them from accomplishing that goal.

And, if one counted them, the inmates who were unfortunately caught in the crossfire simply wanted nothing more than to get to safety and live another day.

The four Diamond Legion assassins who had commandeered the four corner turrets after defeating their original gunmen were still there, raining indiscriminate fire on the security guards and fleeing inmates below.

Their helicopters and biplanes provided air support, doing their best to take out any resistance, while more pink SUVs---some with roof-mounted guns---dealt with the fighting on the ground.

Bryan Birchwood hobbled over to the trash can which The Viper had thrown B.B. into, pulled the robotic baby out of it, and assimilated him back into his body mass for safety, ultimately determining that he would be safer there than out in the open. Then, he got back to trashing the yard.
