We last read Chapter 36, in which Allie Bannister gloats over her "victory" while viewing numerous screens of suffering men across the globe, with some of the Watchwomen's loved ones among the victims. Once again, she tries to convince Nightclaw and Voltara that what she is going is good—while also indirectly giving Sonya Pillsbury a second chance even though she betrayed her once before—but when Sonya, Nightclaw, and Voltara all refuse and attempt to attack her, Allie angrily has them all restrained by George, Ringo, and a mind-controlled Viper before ordering them all to be brought to her brainwashing chamber for conditioning.

Meanwhile, Coldsnap—who had stayed behind in the second floor antechamber to fight Bryan and B.B. and emerged partially victorious—is ascending up the Diamond Legion Skybase from the outside, aiming to get to Allie Bannister's third floor office. She dispatches all of the Legion's helicopters and biplanes through excellent maneuvering of her mount, nailing them all with ice blasts and sending them all plummeting to the Earth's surface, before facing severe resistance in the form of several Legion Guard troopers, their leader, and a series of high-powered cannons on the eastern loading bay deck. But, being the heroine that she is, Coldsnap refuses to let that stop her, and uses her ice longsword to deflect every single one of their cannonballs back at them while continuously taunting them and getting under their skin. Eventually, she hits them with so many of their own cannonballs that the entire loading bay deck crumbles apart, falls off of the main mansion, and crashes to the ground thousands of feet below.....all while Coldsnap herself remains on her ice dragon, grinning with triumph. The chapter then ends with Coldsnap finally making it to Allie Bannister's office, confronting the Diamond Legion leader, her bodyguards, and The Viper just as they are about to take Sonya, Nightclaw, and Voltara away for brainwashing.

This time, we watch as events unfold further, and see if Allie will go quietly or start a fight......

"Listen to me!" the icy heroine cried. "You're fucking crazy!"

"Please. If I was a man, you'd have called me 'driven'. Besides, I probably should've known that something was up when I noticed you weren't here," Allie sneered at Coldsnap while glaring at her. "I must be slipping."

"Yeah, I'd say so," Coldsnap snarked in return. "Don't know how you can miss such a brightly-colored superhero riding on a huge ice dragon, but we'll go with it, I guess."

Her right hand then glowed with ice magic and she held it out in the direction of the door acting as the only entrance or exit to Allie's office, and—with a quick closing of her fist—instantly propped up an unbreakable wall of ice that nestled itself perfectly within the doorway, disabling anyone from getting in or out without using the huge breach that Coldsnap's ice dragon had opened up upon its arrival.

"What?!" Allie exclaimed in disbelief.

But to add to her setback, while she was distracted staring at the ice wall that had just been created, Coldsnap also shot an ice harpoon from her left palm and impaled the second remote that Allie had—the one controlling the pink stasis fields—disabling the restrictions on Sonya, Nightclaw, and Voltara and enabling them to act again. They promptly shoved all of their captors off of them—though Nightclaw obviously went easy on The Viper—and prepared themselves for a fight.

"No! How dare you!" the Diamond Legion leader cried. "I'll make you pay for that!"

"And here I thought you were pro-women," Voltara commented snidely to Allie before turning her head to Coldsnap. "Coldsnap! Allie's unhinged!"
