We last read Chapter 40, in which the Watchwomen—following their successful termination of the Diamond Legion and their defeat of Bryan and B.B.'s grotesque corporeal forms—learn of the history of the Birchwood line, of which Bryan and B.B. are a part of, and what exactly they and their ancestors stood for before Allie Bannister single-handedly drove them to extinction to further her own ambitions. After the Watchwomen realize that the Birchwoods were a selfless, generous line of aristocrats who always used their resources to help the needy—and that they withheld the estate from Allie's ownership to avoid it falling into the wrong hands—the heroines became greatly emotional at realizing that the bloodline won't be able to do that anymore with the deaths of Blake, Bryan, Allie, and B.B., the latter of which was still an infant. The Viper is particularly distraught, but before Bryan and B.B. ascend to the afterlife, the former gives The Viper—and by proxy, the rest of the Watchwomen—some important advice: justice is a precious virtue that should always be fought for at every turn, regardless of what external laws or mandates might say.....because it will all have been worth it to prevent future damage; such as the permanent, irreversible damage that Allie has done to the Birchwood line. The Viper then promises that she knows the next steps to take from here, and vows to Bryan and B.B. that she and the others will continue their heroism. Then, Bryan and B.B.'s spirits thank the Watchwomen one last time before finally dissipating, ascending to heaven's gates after years of being denied peace.

The Watchwomen then reunite with the cured Diamond Legion assassins, who also reveal that they rescued Sonya Pillsbury's body from the crashing Diamond Legion Skybase. The heroines realize that they still have a lot to do, between reuniting the assassins with their families and burying Sonya Pillsbury. To that end, they decide to recruit the male Paragons—Dr. Duncan Drevis, The Crawler, James Markovsky a.k.a. Powerhouse, and Herman—to their side as well. In doing so, they take the first steps towards becoming better than Allie was; whereas she hated men, they at least wished to give them a chance. The Viper then voices her desire for everyone to work together, since the task will be daunting indeed.

Lastly, the chapter concluded with Sonya Pillsbury and Allie Bannister's souls conversing one more time in the space between afterlives, with Allie revealing that she still hasn't learned from the error of her ways. Ultimately, her soul is dragged off to Hell by its demonic, otherworldly forces while Sonya's is instead whisked away to Heaven.

This time, we catch up with all eight of the Paragons about a week later, and learn the final outcome of the Diamond Legion's fall.....

-One Week Later-

-Dr. Duncan Drevis's Apartment Complex, Mercury Heights, New York, United States-

About a week after the official termination of the Diamond Legion, the deaths of Allie Bannister, George, Ringo, Sonya Pillsbury, Bryan Birchwood, and B.B., and the rescue of the organization's mind-controlled assassins—all thanks to the bravery and teamwork of the Watchwomen—the Paragons were now unofficially working together once more. The heroines had also informed their friends—Dr. Duncan Drevis, The Crawler, James Markovsky a.k.a. Powerhouse, and Herman—about all of the events involving the Diamond Legion, and requested for their assistance in reuniting the cured Diamond Legion assassins with their families and loved ones.

And, of course, being the heroes they were, they were more than happy to help. In fact, in about a week's time, more or less every single Diamond Legion assassin had been placed into safe hands at long last. For most of them, their friends and family were still alive and active, and were eagerly waiting to welcome them home with open arms. For others, though, they would find out that their families had either passed away during their service to the Diamond Legion, or that they had simply moved on and sired other children instead.
