"The Trapeze Swinger" by Iron & Wine ♪

Hao shivers as he makes his way to Hanbin's house, which unluckily is way too far from his own. Hao had to suffer the travel of walking for a few minutes before entering the bus and walking more after that.

The winter started to show itself more apparent this week, with snow covering the sides of the streets and falling on Hao. It's a beautiful sight, but Hao only enjoys watching it rather than feeling that actual cold that comes from such weather

As Hao walks to the doorstep, he carefully rings the doorbell twice before turning his back to the door. He looks over at the street, its beauty making him smile. The white is covering the streets, making everything icy. The top half of the cars are covered in snow, only revealing the wheels. Hao breathes in the cold air and only regrets it after his body tenses at the chilly feeling

"The snow's pretty"

Hao jumps at the voice and looks behind him. Hanbin is smiling at the landscape, eyes glistening at the view of the snow

"Yeah.." Hao answers, scratching the back of his neck

"Are you coming in or...?" Hanbin questions. Hao rushes past the door, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips

"Right, sorry. Are they here yet?" Hao asks. Hanbin shakes his head

"You got here early" Hanbin answers. Hao hums, taking off his shoes before looking around the house. It has a cozy vibe to it... perfect for winter

"Do you want some hot chocolate?" Hanbin asks, smiling at the older boy who looks around the house in amazement

"Oh, yeah, sure. Thanks" Hao answers. Hanbin nods, gesturing for Hao to follow him to the kitchen. As they enter, Hao continues to look around. The cooking counter is large, with a few high chairs next to it. There is a dining table on the other side of the kitchen, big enough for a family of six

"You have siblings?" Hao asks. Hanbin looks over at him from the freezer before smiling lightly

"Nah. I just like to have a house where there's plenty of space"

"You live alone?" Hao asks in surprise. Hanbin nods with a small chuckle before closing the fridge

"Yeah"

"Aren't you too young?!" Hao asks. His surprise is evident, after all, Hanbin is still in high school. Hao has never met a high schooler who lives by themselves

"I'm only a year younger than you, Hao" Hanbin answers, taking out a mug from a swinging counter

"And? Your point? I don't live alone!" Hao exclaims. Hanbin shrugs

"It's nice. Do you want marshmallows with the hot chocolate?" he asks. Hao shakes his head

"No, thanks. You put marshmallows in hot chocolate?" he asks

"Nope. But Gyuvin does"

"So does Ricky!" Hao exclaims, getting excited for no reason at all. Maybe their similar opinions brought them together

"I guess that's why they're dating," Hanbin says with a snicker. Hao smiles in return

"I guess so"

Hao watches as Hanbin puts the dark liquid in the mug. The smell invades the room, making Hao smile in satisfaction, mouth watering at the thought of hot chocolate on a cold snowy day

"Here," Hanbin says, gliding the mug through the counter to Hao's direction. Hao gives the boy a smile before taking a sip of the steaming hot chocolate

Before Hao can thank the boy for the drink, the doorbell rings. Hanbin walks out of the room, and Hao can hear as he opens the door. He hears Gyuvin's and Ricky's bright voices take over the calm and cozy house, replacing it with a bright and energetic aura

Hao decides to leave the emptiness of the kitchen, walking out of the room to greet his friend

"Hao! When did you get here?" Ricky asks

"Just a few minutes ago" Hao responds, letting Ricky take a sip of his hot chocolate before taking it back

"Right. Glad you didn't die on your way here" Ricky answers with a laugh, bumping his hip against Hao's. Hao rolls his eyes with a laugh before sitting down on the couch. Ricky follows him while Hanbin and Gyuvin stay behind, speaking of nothing that Hao is interested in

"So?" Ricky asks, flopping down next to his friend. Hao looks back at him with confusion

"What?"

"What do you think of Hanbin? You see that he isn't a kidnapper now?"

"I always knew that, Ricky. For your information, Hanbin has been in my same class for many years. I already knew him" Hao states matter of factly with a laugh, leaning further onto the soft fabric of the large couch

"Right... it just seemed like you didn't trust him" Ricky answers, closing his eyes as he leans his head back

"I trust him. I just don't know him that well" Hao answers before they stop talking as the two other boys sit down on the couch, resuming their conversation

As time passes by, and their friends slowly start to arrive, the noise inside the cozy house increases, leaving a ringing sound in Hao's ears as he puts his scarf around his neck in a secure embrace.

Hanbin stands beside him, watching as the boy shivers at the simple thought of leaving the warmth of the house into the breezy cold and an equally cold bus

"Want me to take you home?" Hanbin questions, holding some keys in his hand. Hao looks at him with furrowed eyebrows

"Aren't you too young to drive?" he questions. Hanbin smiles shyly

"Not really, I turn eighteen in a few weeks" the boy answers. Hao sighs before nodding

"If you don't mind..." Hao asks. He does not need to say less before Hanbin drapes a coat over himself, leading Hao out of the front door and towards the car by the side of the house. Hanbin opens the door for Hao with a light smile before heading to the driver's seat

"You haven't gotten your license?" Hanbin asks, starting the car with a laid-back expression

"Nope... I don't really want to drive" Hao answers and Hanbin hums. Hao tells the boy his address and they start heading down the icy street, watching the snow fall onto the glass, running its liquid into cold tears of the skies. It's white the symbol of peace, bringing exactly that into Hao with a sigh of relief coming from the boy with satisfaction as the warmth of the car protects him

Just a heads up, I have been going through a really tough time these days and I have been diagnosed with really bad anxiety. Unmotivation has been a really big thing for me lately, and it is getting progressively worse. Nevertheless, I promise to try to update the most that I can as my usual schedule (each Friday/Saturday). I just want you guys to know that if I don't update once in a while as I usually should, it is because of that!

(this isn't a vent, it is just to warn you btw)

I won't stop updating ofc, but I will definitely be taking a two-week break from writing once in a while. I hope you understand and thank you for all the love and support! :)
