Goodbye, My Love
"Thank you for loving me even when my heart was full of hurt and war," Draco whispered atop the cemented slab. Harry's name shimmered in the afternoon light on the gravestone.
His tears were dried now, caked onto his face and making his skin feel gruff. He silently placed the bright bouquet of red roses on the stone, along with his letter and begrudgingly, stood from his place.
But before he could get very far, he felt a voice calling to him. Go to Godric's Hollow, it whispered, I want to see you.
Usually, anything of the like would have freaked him out irrevocably but he didn't feel scared by this presence. No, it felt warm and soft. Almost like..almost like his Harry.
He felt his legs taking him back to the graveyard, his heart racing as he knelt onto the stone. "Harry?"
From the corner of his eye, he saw a white shape materialize and soon, it was full of color. It was his husband, the last time he had seen him. He was wearing Draco's sweater, his favorite joggers, and a crooked smile on his face.
"Hello, my love," the form replied. "I can't give you a hug, unfortunately, but I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you, of the father you have become for our little girl."
"Oh Harry!" Draco sobbed, falling down onto the ground. "I love you. I love you so freaking much."
"I love you too."
He felt himself shaking, felt his body giving out from under him. How had he longed to hear those words just one more time in the past few years. "Ginny–"
"Ginny is perfectly fine, you've done a good job letting her into your life, Dray. I'm so glad you have someone to lean on. Especially with Pansy and Blaise in Italy."
"Harry, Harry we want to move. I'm going to Italy." He sniffled. "But I don't want to leave you behind."
"Honey, I will always be with you. No matter where you are, I am with you." He smiled, softly. "Remember I love you. I have to go now but I'm watching everything you do and I couldn't be prouder."
Draco felt himself sob again. "Please. Please don't go."
"I have to, darling, but I love you more than life itself."
"Why would you do such a thing for me, Harry? Why would you sacrifice yourself for my life when it means nothing without you?"
"It will mean something, eventually." He laughed, lightly. "You were always so dramatic, hm? But it's what drew me in."
The blonde laughed lightly as well. "Goodbye my Harry."
"Goodbye," was the last thing he heard before everything faded back to black, to the mundane gray of the world.
