Seventeen des adieux en larmes
~~~~~~~~Delyth found herself without a place to go, lacking a house of her own. She hesitated to ask Tigris, not wanting to be a burden.
After careful consideration, she opted to inquire with Sejanus. The two shared a good friendship through Coryo, and she sensed he might have enough spare rooms in his house.
Being the kind-hearted boy he was, and with plenty of room in his house, Sejanus was happy to offer her a place to stay.
As she headed to the zoo, she realized it might be the last time she'd see the boy before the games—potentially the last time ever.
Arriving at the zoo, she noticed that almost all the tributes were awake, except for Wovey and Mizzen who seemed accustomed to sleeping in such conditions. Treech, however, was scanning the area, seemingly searching for her.
Their eyes met and Treech stood up quietly, he made his way over to her.
"Hello," he spoke quietly, his tone lacking the usual excitement. Both were likely aware that this could be their final meeting.
"Hi" she greeted as well. She gave him a sad smile.
"You wanna tell me why you left home then?Treech inquired, but the girl's mind, consumed by thoughts of the Hunger Games, hadn't even spared a moment for her past abode.
"I got kicked out of ballet school, they told me if I didn't win the plinth prize they'd kick me out" she stopped, almost heisting before she spoke. "but I realised I don't have anything to prove to them, I don't even care about the Plinth prize, I only care about you." she confessed. His eyes widened slightly as he grasped the impact he had become.
Her words served as a cue, instantly dispelling his concerns about deceit and ulterior motives as she spoke those reassuring words. It was as though an unspoken force pushed him towards her.
His lips crashed against hers with an intensity that revealed a hunger within him. At first, she seemed taken aback, but gradually she surrendered to the kiss. His hand found her cheek, fingers gently tracing the contours as if savoring the moment. The world around them seemed to fade as they shared a passionate connection, lost in the warmth of the kiss that spoke volumes without uttering a word.
A shy smile passed between them, unspoken words conveying the mutual understanding of their shared feelings.
Delyth found herself uncertain whether the impulsive action was the best or the most foolish decision she had ever made. The kiss marked a new chapter in their relationship, a tangible strengthening of their connection. The thought of Treech facing potential death in the Hunger Games now loomed even more devastatingly in her mind.
"Oh, I have something special for you," she said, reaching around her neck to unveil a stunning necklace adorned with delicate ballet shoes. She reached through the bars to put it on him.
Observing her struggle to fasten it through the bars, he waited patiently. As she finally succeeded, he glanced down, lifting the necklace from around his neck. Studying it, memories of her flooded his mind.
"Are you sure?" he inquired, aware of the potential irreversibility of parting with it.
"Absolutely," she affirmed with a nod, her conviction clear. She wanted Treech to embrace the good luck, even if the item never found its way back to her.
"I'll give it back to you, I promise" he reassured her.
They extended their pinkies, sealing their words with the unspoken bond of a pinky promise.
"How are you feeling?" She questioned, "about tomorrow?."
"Nervous" He confessed – Treech had never really confided in the girl about how nervous he was for these games, assuming she already knew. She nodded in understanding.
"You're going to be fine, Treech. You're a good fighter! And you can climb." Her voice wavered, it almost seemed as though she was trying to convince herself. Her eyes seemed to well up. A look of concern washed over his face as he noticed. "Please be fine." He nodded, words wouldn't come out so only his gestures would be able to reassure her.
Terrified, she had gambled everything for the boy—lost her house, her parents, her reputation. She knew that her feelings for him transcended platonic boundaries and it left her uneasy, fearful that the opportunity to explore what lay between them might slip away.
Yet, thoughts of a particular blonde boy occupied her mind; she had intended to caution him. Fully aware that Snow wouldn't play fair, she felt the urgency to forewarn Treech about the potential hazards of attempting to harm Lucy Gray.
With a sniff, she resumed, "You need to keep your distance from Lucy Gray." Observing Treech glance at the mentioned girl, his face then returning to hers with a wry expression, it was evident he didn't perceive her as a threat.
Continuing, she stressed her point without allowing him room to respond. "Coriolanus, her mentor—I've been warned about him. He has it out for you already and is desperate to win that prize. He won't play it safe. You must steer clear of her, Treech!" Her tone was firm, demanding his understanding.
Nervousness crept back onto Treech's face as he nodded, "I'll do my best," he assured. The challenge lay ahead; Corals primary focus was Lucy Gray, and now, he found himself allied with her.
Her hand rested on the bar, his hand gently reaching up to hold hers. Both avoided meeting each other's eyes, creating a moment that conveyed a sense of hesitation or perhaps shared vulnerability.
"Ironic ain't it?" Treech finally spoke, his eyes watched her as she finally looked up to meet his gaze, "the one girl I can't get enough of, is the one I'll never be able to have"
His words caught her by surprise, a pretty blush washing over her face as she smiled, tears still streaming down.
"The world has its own plans for us Treech," she told him, "we'll have to see what it decides too do."
As they distanced themselves from the others, a shy smile exchanged between them. "I think you need some rest," she spoke, acknowledging the truth. Despite her reluctance to part from him, she understood the importance of sleep during his situation.
He nodded, "I'll see you soon, Bardott"
"You better"
