Thirty-seven manipulation
~~~~~~~~Coriolanus lingered near The Timbered Heath, a mix of anticipation and desire swirling within him. The revelation that Delyth wanted to return to the capital fueled his excitement, eroding any lingering traces of the resentment he once held. Now, his emotions were overtaken by a potent blend of yearning and possessiveness.
In his mind, she was meant to be his, a possession he coveted.
Observing her approach, Coriolanus couldn't help but admire Delyth's radiant presence. The sun played on her tanned skin, and her hair danced freely in the breeze, creating an aura of natural beauty that captivated him. The allure intensified his desire for her, making it clear that he couldn't resist the pull she unknowingly exerted on him.
"Coriolanus," she nodded, offering him a sweet smile that concealed any discomfort she felt.
"Bardott," he smirked, his gaze scanning her frame.
"And what do you have planned for us today?" She returned his mischievous look as she crossed her arms.
The two went to eat inside, Coriolanus continuing to engage Delyth in conversation, as the conversation unfolded, Delyth skillfully steered it towards general topics, occasionally emphasizing her longing for the lifestyle in the Capital. Coriolanus, drawn in by her charm, failed to notice the subtle manipulation at play. The atmosphere remained charged, their unspoken motives hanging in the air as they shared a meal in the dimly lit surroundings.
"So why did you come here?" He asked, failing to notice the way she froze at the question she wasn't expecting.
"Well, I came here with Treech. Thought there was something, you know? But the more I got to know him, the more I realized it wasn't what I wanted. The capital is where I belong." She spoke with a hint of disappointment, hoping to create a narrative that would align with Coriolanus's expectations. The words hurting her as she spoke them.
Coriolanus smirked at her words, relishing the revelation that she and Treech didn't work out. It fueled his confidence, making him believe that he still had a chance to claim her for himself. His gaze lingered on her, contemplating how she could fit into his plans.
Delyth hesitated for a moment before speaking, "I realized I need someone who isn't dirty and district, someone more refined, like you, Coriolanus." Her words were carefully chosen, meant to feed into his ego and build the narrative she wanted him to believe.
Blinded by the allure of her words and the lust he felt, Coriolanus failed to see through the lies woven into every sentence she uttered. The echo of his own sentiments, once expressed, now served as the perfect bait for her intricate deception.
She skillfully feigned realization, a subtle act suggesting she had unintentionally revealed her true feelings. Yet, every word was a deliberate piece of the puzzle she artfully crafted, leading Coriolanus deeper into the web of her deceptive charm.
"Save the best part for me in the capital," Coriolanus whispered, his gaze predatory and his voice dripping with desire.
Delyth couldn't help but notice Coriolanus's lingering gaze, especially as she deliberately wore a low-cut, form-fitting dress to accentuate her figure. A mischievous smirk played on her lips each time she caught him stealing glances. She reveled in the subtle control she seemed to have over him.
"When do you leave for district 2?" She asked, playing with her glass.
"I leave in a week" he told her.
"I'll make sure to leave at the same time" she winked at him.
"Same time tomorrow then?" He questioned with his eyebrow slightly raised.
With a slow nod and a smile playing on her lips, she agreed, fully aware that the deception was working. She anticipated the dawn's departure, leaving Coriolanus with the impression that they'd meet again soon.
Delyth returned home to discover Treech had thoughtfully packed many of her belongings. He greeted her with a warm smile as she entered the room, standing up to welcome her.
"How did it go?" he inquired, planting a quick kiss on her cheek.
She nodded, responding with a mischievous giggle, "He thinks I'm seeing him tomorrow," eliciting laughter from Treech.
Wrapping his arms around her waist, Treech gazed down at Delyth, exchanging sweet smiles. "I can't wait to start a new life with you," he spoke, his words filled with warmth and promise.
