Twenty-six obsession
~~~~~~~~To say Coriolanus was angry would be an understatement; he was seething with fury.
The girl not only saw through his strategic maneuvers, but she also thwarted him at every turn, becoming the formidable obstacle that prevented his victory.
The intensity of his anger grew as he acknowledged that his failure was, in no small part, due to her strategic brilliance and determination. Every glance at her happy face felt like a taunt, a mocking reminder of the victory that slipped through his fingers.
After being faced with the accusation of cheating by Dean Highbottom after his mother's vial was discovered on Lucy Gray's body, Coriolanus's anger shifted immediately to Delyth. He couldn't shake the belief that she was the one who had exposed his deceit.
Consumed by her image and relentless thoughts, he found himself spiraling into a perilous obsession with the girl.
So one night, observing Tigris reading a letter with tears streaming down her face, he felt compelled to delve into the contents, eager to uncover the source of her profound distress.
Dear Tigris,
I hope this letter finds you well. There's something I need to share with you before I embark on a journey to District 7. I've decided to run away from the Capital, seeking freedom and a life beyond the misery I've known here. I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for being an incredible friend. Your kindness has been a beacon of light in my darkest days.
I apologize for not being able to say goodbye properly. The circumstances compel me to make a swift departure. Please understand that this decision is about reclaiming my life and finding peace. I'll forever cherish the moments we've shared, and your friendship will remain close to my heart.
Wishing you all the best, and may our paths cross again.
With gratitude,
DelythCoriolanus tightened his grip on the letter, convinced she had fled to District 7 to join her district tribute. The thought of them living happily together made his jaw clench with frustration.
His jealousy burned within him like a relentless flame, fueling his anger as he imagined her escaping to District 7, living a life free from the Capital's grip.
He seethed at the fact that Delyth never reciprocated the feelings he harbored for her. The unrequited emotions intensified his bitterness, creating a toxic concoction of jealousy, anger, and frustration within Coriolanus Snow.
He contemplated that she either needed to be under his control or eliminated altogether. She had to crumble in his hand, revert to the pathetic girl she once was. If she refused, then she must face the consequence – he saw her as too intelligent, capable of seeing through his schemes, a threat that needed to be neutralized.
His resentment toward her had become an overwhelming force, fueled by her refusal to reciprocate his feelings and her role in exposing his cheating. The intensity of his animosity reached an unhealthy level, consuming him with bitterness and disdain.
So as he received the news of being assigned as a peacekeeper, spending his days in the districts to regain his standing for a potential return to the capital, a particular idea lingered in his mind.
"District 10"
Coriolanus gazed at the woman before him, realizing her stern expression required some convincing.
"Send me to 7," he pleaded, extending his hand from within his coat, revealing a handful of notes as a bribe. "Please."
