"Who was that guy you were talking to!?" His voice angrily boomed in the car. Mina slightly jolted from her seat. She was looking out the window, trying to figure out how to answer him. "Huh!?"

"He was an old friend from high school." She lied. She felt his glare but he didn't say anything after that. Mina sat very still, scared to even move. After some minutes, they got to their small home. Mina quickly got out and walked inside, not waiting for him. She placed her bags on the kitchen counter. She washed her hands and quickly got to cooking. She didn't cook because she was forced to. She cooked to distract herself and for Daigo, her boyfriend, to leave her alone. It always worked since Daigo never really cared about her. Mina had to find that out the hard way.

Daigo just walked inside the room. Mina heard noises inside but she didn't dare to check. She washed the vegetables and went to the fridge to grab an onion. Daigo soon came out, wearing an all black outfit. 'Weird.' He has been going out everyday these past 2 weeks, wearing all black and not returning until late at night. She watched him as he grabbed the keys and shut the door. Mina sighed of relief and placed the onion down. 'Really wonder what he's up to.'

Mina felt uneasy that he's doing things behind her back but then again when does he not? Mina was aware that she was being cheated on. Not by one women, maybe by multiple. It still hurt her, no matter how many times she would see him kissing another girl. Mina wished she had the option to leave but she can't. She couldn't. She had grown to fear Daigo. Fear of her very own boyfriend. Someone who's supposed to be her support and protection.

Luckily, he wasn't physically abusive. Daigo never laid a finger on her unless it came to sex. Since Daigo had other women, he didn't need Mina to fulfill his sexual desires. Mina couldn't recall the last time they did it. It wasn't like she missed it, she hated how aggressive he was.

Daigo was more controlling and verbally abusive to Mina. She wasn't allowed to do certain things. She had the freedom of using her phone and walk around town, but only if he's there. If he wanted to go out for some drinks, he would force her to go with him, just for her to end up alone. It irritated her to the point that she got used it.

Daigo used to be the perfect boyfriend a girl could ask for. They used to go on dates and have special moments together. They met after her graduation. She was working at a coffee shop and Daigo was a regular there. He would always be nice to her and even tip her just because. The two became friends and Mina started to develop feelings for him.

When Daigo asked her out, Mina gladly said yes but her parents didn't support it. Either way, they allowed her to date him and Mina wished that they didn't. Daigo suggested for her to move in with him since he found a good job opportunity. He didn't want to live far from her and Mina, who was head over heels for him, accepted. The worst mistake she has ever made.

Daigo started to change and was becoming more and more controlling. He would call her names that hurt Mina to the max. She never expected the nice guy from the coffee shop to call her such names. It wasn't the Daigo she fell in love with.

Mina still kept in touch with her parents and brother. Of course, Daigo would force her to write letters saying that she was doing fine and is happy. Daigo didn't allow her to contact her parents or brother via phone. She hasn't seen her brother in a while neither her parents. Daigo didn't allow her to, simply because he knew she would spill the beans. Mina didn't want to know what would happen if she ends up telling the truth.

Her mind then traveled to Chaeyoung. The guy she met at the bar. She wasn't going to lie, she noticed him walk in with his friends. She was surprised by how built and attractive he is. Most Japanese didn't pack that much muscle, well Daigo did, but it wasn't usual for her to see a jacked Japanese. She was shocked when he approached her. She wanted to laugh when she looked at him and he quickly turned around. 'A funny guy.' Mina smiled remembering that scene.

During that night, she started to leave when she saw Daigo's signal. The whole night, she was drinking wine, rejecting guys and watching her boyfriend kiss and grind on other girls. She watched with a plain expression, her heart didn't even break anymore. It was already broken. She felt nothing but annoyance. That annoyance was swept when she heard some call out to her. It was Chaeyoung and when she saw those brown eyes look into hers, it felt like she saw a whole different world.

She found him cute by the way he acted. He was a blushing and shy mess. Mina wasn't used to guys like him, in fact, she never met a shy guy. She was also more interested when she found out he wasn't Japanese but Korean. She felt blessed that she knew Korean, thanks to the class she took in high school. She had the courage to talk to him when she recognized him at the fruit stand. She bought the strawberries as an excuse to talk to him. They had a nice small conversation and Mina enjoyed it. It felt nice having a calming talk instead of hearing that rough angry voice. Chaeyoung's voice soothed her ears. He was a shy bulky guy and Mina felt safe around him.

It was unfortunate when Daigo had to ruin it. She did see him bump into Chaeyoung purposely but she didn't want to say anything. She knew she would step into danger if she does.

Mina sighed and continued chopping the onion. She looked at the hour. 4:30PM. 'He'll be back around 11PM.' She assumed. She didn't bother cooking for him, she knew he was going to eat out with some girl. After cooking herself a meal, she sat on the worn out table. She ate and zoned out. How she wished to escape this hell hole. She was depressed, worn out, and tired. She received a letter from her brother, asking her how she was and if she was happy. Mina had no choice but to lie to him and he replied back saying he found someone who could help her. She was confused on how he knew that she wasn't okay. Either way, she didn't mind a new friend. Till this day, she was waiting for this friend he mentioned.

She finished her meal and placed the dish in the sink and started to wash it. She couldn't stop thinking about Chaeyoung. She really wished that she told him that she needed help but what would Chaeyoung do? They barely knew each other. They only knew each other's names. 'I hope I run into him again.' Mina really enjoyed their small conversation. Mina felt all warm whilst talking to him. 'He's so cute!' She squealed remembering how he would rub his nape and slightly stutter his words.

As Mina finished washing her dish, she walked to the room. She decided to take a shower and head to bed. She didn't want to do anything but kill time. She hoped that she'll met the tiger like guy again. She laid on the bed and stared at the window. Her curiosity couldn't be held back as she grabbed her phone and tried to search him in any social media.

After 10 minutes of scrolling, she couldn't find him. She was about to give up when she finally found him. As she clicked on his profile, she slightly gasped. 'He's a solider?' She looked at the pictures Chaeyoung had. It was selfies with his friends at a boot camp it seemed. Him posing with a gun, caption: must be Korean the way I make this K pop. She snorted. 'He's really funny.' He only had few posts which made Mina pout. She stared at the 5 posts he had. Mina bit her lip. 'Should I follow him?' Her thumb hovered over the blue follow button. 'No! He'll think you stalked him!' She moved her thumb away and just sighed. She stared at his posts one more time before shutting her phone off, calling it a night.
