„And do you already know when Ben and Linn will arrive?" my mom turned to me with a glass in her hand. She was just cleaning out the dishwasher."Both meet tomorrow in Zurich and then fly to Monaco at some point," I replied and poured something into the glass, which she now put in front of me. "Are they staying in a hotel?" Ma asked further and it took me a short time to answer, as my attention was on the cell phone in front of me. The Grand Prix just took place in Spain, which I watched with woken up eyes via mobile phone. Actually, I would have liked to go there in person, but since I wasn't with my parents last weekend, they had wished to see me at least this week, because I wouldn't be there next week either, as I'm accompanying Charles to the race in Austria.
„Uhm, yes in this soleil rouge..." Charles now overtook Lando and landed in 4th place. His OnBoard was shown, which looked crazy.I saw in the corner of my eye how my mom stopped next to me and looked at my screen with a frown. "Tell me, what are you actually looking there?" she asked confusedly. I held the cell phone under her nose and smiled. "Formula 1."
She raised an eyebrow and looked at me as if I were telling her that I saw an alien. "Formula 1?" I nodded violently and leaned the mobile phone back against the water bottle on the table. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were just leading a duel for the top. "Since when have you been interested in it?" my mom followed up without understanding. I haven't told her about Charles and myself yet, somehow I didn't come at a suitable time."Uhhh," shit, what do I tell her now? She knows that Pascale's son is driving Formula 1... "Ayla recommended it to me," I just saved myself again.
"And you're sure this has nothing to do with my friend's son?" my eyes turned to her. She had a mischievous grin on her face and I felt that I was blushing. „No, surely not!", I replied harshly. "I was also young once..."
„Ma!!", I exclaimed completely indignantly. But I didn't miss her grin while she continued to empty the dishwasher. I dedicated myself to the race again. Oh no. I sighed disappointed. Now I had missed how Charles rose to third place.Immediately after the Grand Prix ended, I wrote Charles congratulations and that he should call as soon as he can. He landed on P2 because there was a crash between Valtteri Bottas and George Russell four laps before the end and he was able to overtake after the safety car. Max will certainly not have been happy, to get kicked on the 3rd. place. so shortly before the end.
But after the award ceremony, I saw on my phone how Lewis, went to Charles and patted him on the back. Joy shone on both faces, which made me smile. The two exchanged a few more words together and Charles gestured wildly in the air. Lewis then nodded violently and laughed. Maybe they were talking about Charles' overtaking maneuver to Max. He didn't even dare to take a look at Charles and disappeared from the podium with a gloomy facial expression. Inside, I had to laugh a little about the fact that he is such a bad loser.
I disappeared into my room to wait for Charles' call. 5 minutes, I turned my thimbs. 8 minutes, I counted the fringes on my curtain. 13 minutes, I rocked sitting on the bed with my feet. 17 minutes, I walked up and down the room impatiently. 24 minutes, I pressed my head into my pillow like paralyzed and didn't stir an inch. Then all of a sudden, the mattress vibrated next to me. As if struck by lightning, I jumped up and reached for it. I wiped the green symbol to the right and raised it to my ear. „Charles! Finally. What a race. You showed it to them. And that with Max...", it bubbled out of me like a waterfall and I had to be careful that the words in my mouth didn't overflow. My heart beat so fast, but became calmer when I heard his happy voice.
„Thank you, Ma Chérie. You should have seen how the guy looked when I was on the 2nd podium place instead of him." I heard the smile in his voice.
"I can only imagine how that pushed you," I grinned.
"Oh yes. And not just me. Lewis whispered to me earlier that I have to continue just like this to get Max used to his rightful place," Charles said proudly, „You don't believe what it's like to hear something like from Lewis, from THIS Lewis Hamilton," he added impressed. Lewis is a legend, I read that on the Internet. He has driven an incredible number of races, has sent countless cups and above all he is a very fair driver who is successful both in the team and alone. He is constantly committed to those who do not have such a loud voice as he does and treats everyone with respect. That's why I could understand Charles' feeling only too well.
„I'll be there tomorrow as soon as possible." Charles directed to a topic that concerned both of us. We discussed that he will sleep in my apartment tomorrow because I don't have to work all next week. Our boss has ordered renovations of our kitchen, which will fall on next week. The next morning I cleaned up my apartment a bit and wiped the floor. After that, I was still in the flower shop around the corner and bought new plants for my balcony. The old ones have recently withered because I forgot to water them. I decided on a pot of foxtail, some lavender and of course oleander in white and light pink. At home, I potted them into my elongated hanging pots and poured my small avocado plant, which I had raised myself.
I had spent lunch and afternoon doing long overdue paperwork. At exactly five past six in the evening it rang. Charles pulled me to him and kissed me. I tasted his lips and breathed his masculine scent into my lungs. Now that he was here, everything else became unimportant and only he counted.
When we entered my room, he looked at the piano on the wall for a moment. He walked up to it and let his fingers jump over the keys. "Let's play. Together." I looked at him in amazement and raised an eyebrow. "Come on, come on." he nodded to me confidently.
I stepped uncertainly to him. I've never played in front of anyone. I was always afraid that no one could understand this passion. On the other hand, Charles is someone who shares this hobby and understands every word when I tell him about it. "Just let your feelings run wild," Charles whispered. I summed up all my courage and listened to my heart, which beat faster excitedly. "Okay." Charles nodded and began to play. The first tones sounded unanimously, he played them alone. Then I also put my fingers down and closed my eyes. I didn't need eyes to know what tones I had to play to round off the melody perfectly. Charles had also closed his eyes before and our hearts alone created a rhythm, a sequence of tones that was so beautiful that it burned itself into my head.ఌ
I blinked overslept. I listened, then this ringing sounded again. Who wanted something from me so early? I wanted to move to run to the door, but heavy arms held me in their clutches. A hum came from Charles' throat when I tried to wind. "What's going on?" he murmured without opening his eyes.
„There's someone at the door," I replied in a whisper. Charles blinked. "Who?" he asked. "If you would let me go, I could look." I tapped on his arms. "I'll come with you," he decided, let me go and jumped out of bed behind me. On quiet soles, I tapped to the apartment door and slowly pushed it up shortly afterwards. Two familiar faces beamed with me, but their face quickly turned into confusion when they saw the person behind me.
