C É L I N A
The next morning I started with a quick, hot shower. Charles had accompanied me home last night and nevertheless I didn't get to sleep until 1 a.m. because I reviewed the day with him for hours.
I grabbed my towel and dried my face first and then the rest of my skin. I put on my black work clothes and blow-dried my hair. Then I combed them and wanted to tie them in a high ponytail, then I noticed a stain on my neck in the mirror. I embarrassed my face. Charles. Okay, roger no ponytail.
I left my hair open because I hadn't the time to cover the stain effectively. At least my shift today only goes until 12 a.m. and after that Charles would pick me up. He hasn't told me what he's up to yet, but hey, his last surprise took a great run.
I packed my stuff fast in my bag and took the keys for my car from the wardrobe in the hallway. I drove along the sea-promenade in direction to the La Note bleue. The radio played 'heart attack' by Demi Lovato. I turned the music a little louder while I let my thoughts wander around. My hair was blowing because of the wind that came in through the shut down window. Previously, I had put on sunglasses, as the sun usually shines directly towards me in the morning on the way to work, just like today.
I was so dreamy that I almost missed the exit to Plage du Larvotto and would have driven on and so on towards Charles' home.
When I unlocked the door to the restaurant and brought my things into the staff area, my eyes fell on the empty place where usually Elmo lies. Confused, I looked around the rest of the restaurant, but there was no trace of Elmo. This had never happened here in all my working hours. My heart was beating faster in panic. What is going on? The windows were all open, which means Elmo's owner must have been here this morning. I jogged back to Elmo's cookies and looked around for something that could give me an answer. I reached for a piece of paper that was attached to Elmo's treat box. There were only a few lines written on it, but they answered the question mark in my head.
»Hey Célina, I'm at the vet with Elmo. Don't worry, he'll be back tomorrow. Kind regards, Janett"
Okay. Elmo is at the vet. And she says I shouldn't worry, so it won't be that bad, will it?
I did everything as always. Cleaned the tables, spread flowers on the tables and threw the store. Fortunately, Clodine arrived on time, which she has even been doing almost regularly since Jeff talked to her. And I also got along well with her, but nevertheless I miss Marlow. He is now on a honeymoon with his wife, which is going for four weeks. Not being able to work with him for so long gives me a slight stab in the chest. After all, he is more than a colleague, but more of a friend.

Shortly before the end of the shift, a certain gentleman walked through the door straight towards me. A radiance spread in my facial expressions and I put aside the rag I was just busy with. Charles came around the counter and put his hands on my hips. I looked around for Clodine - I just did it out of reflex - but she one wasn't there. I hung my hands on Charles' neck and kissed him on the lips. He smiled warmly at me and asked how my day was. „So far very relaxed.", I reached for the rag again and wiped the counter with it, "But I would like to know what you planned for right away," I turned to him and pulled my eyebrows up waiting.
He approached me with a grin and pulled me at my waist. "Everything in its time."
I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Why do you always make such a secret out of your plans?" I asked, "Do you think I could come up with the idea of getting away?"
Charles shook his head slightly, "No, but I just love how annoyed you are," he winked at me, which looked a bit strange because he doesn't master this trick.
„Stupid man," I writhed out of his arms and threw the rag at him. "Hey!" he protested, but I just laughed gladly.
At the same moment, Clodine came out of the kitchen with a piece of cake and stopped in shock. Her eyes went back and forth between me and Charles, then she began to grin. "Awww how sweet. Is he your boyfriend now?" before I could answer, she nodded knowingly to us and disappeared to the terrace. My gaze slid to Charles, he just shrugged his shoulders and walked around the counter again. "Should I kick her in the ass so that she lets you go?" he asked and was almost about to leave.
"No thanks, I don't want you to touch her ass even with your foot," I refused. Charles bent over the counter to respond to my allusion. "May I touch your pretty butt?" he grinned challengingly.
„Hmm, very maybe if you tell what we are going to do."
„You have to come along so I can tell you," Charles replied and pushed himself off the counter. I twisted my face. Okay, he wanted me to get out of here?
Then I will do that, but definitely not, because I want him to touch my butt...
I got my things and took a quick look at the empty place of Elmo. May he be back soon.
"I'm gone then. See you tomorrow," I shouted to Clodine over my shoulder as I pushed Charles out in front of me. She only waved because she was busy with a customer. We left the building in a hury and I was sure to finally get an answer to my question. But Charles let me keep fidgeting and probably found it very funny how I ended up next to him annoyed.
„Oh ma Chérie, I just love you.", he murmured amused and pulled me closer to him. I tried to get away from him offended, but he was unfortunately far superior to me in terms of strength.
