So I'm five months along. We found out we're having a little boy and Joe is so happy. He really wanted a boy.
Today was Mother's Day and Joe was off of work. He was spending time with me and Joelle.
I woke up in the morning and went downstairs to get some coffee. Every time I stepped foot anywhere in our house I couldn't help but feel so happy. It was amazing and beautiful. It felt like home. After I got a cup of coffee I walked over to the home phone. It was nine in the morning so I knew my mom would be awake. No time like now to wish her a Happy Mother's Day.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Hey mama." I said.
"Hi sweetheart. How are you doing?"
"I'm good. Baby boy likes to kick a lot."
"Have you guys thought of a name yet?" she asked.
"Not yet. Any time we have an idea we just over think it." I said.
"Well, it'll come to you once you have him. You'll just look at him and you'll know exactly what his name is gonna be." she said.
"By the way mama, Happy Mother's Day!" I said.
"Thank you sweetie. You too."
I smiled. "Mama I'm not a mom yet. I still have a few more months."
"Just because you haven't given birth to him yet doesn't mean you're not a mom. You were a mom the minute you got pregnant." she said. "Listen, sweetie, I have to go to work so I'll call you later. I love you."
"I love you too mama."
We hung up and I leaned against the counter drinking my coffee. Joelle came running down and stopped in front of me. "Happy Mother's Day mommy." she said.
I bent down to her level. "Thank you sweetheart. I love you." I said.
"I love you too mama." she said.
"What do you want for breakfast?" I asked.
"French Toast and bacon."
I giggled. "Sounds good." I opened the fridge and grabbed the ingredients out setting them on the counter. I looked up to see Joe.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Making breakfast." I said.
"No. You are not allowed to do anything today. It's your day today."
"Babe, I can make breakfast."
"Not an option. Now, go sit down and relax. I will make breakfast." he said.
"Okay." I gave up. I was about to walk out of the kitchen but turned around to him. "Joe?"
He looked at me.
"I'm gonna be a good mama right?" I asked.
Joe put down the stuff he had and walked over to me. He put his hands on either side of me head and kissed my forehead. "Of course you are. You're gonna be an amazing mom. You'll see."
I smiled and then walked out of the kitchen. Joelle was sitting on the couch watching Sponge Bob so I sat down beside her and watched it.
"Mommy, when are we going shopping for the baby?" she asked.
"How about today?" I asked.
"Yay!!!" Joelle replied.
"What are you two cheering about in here?" Joe asked putting his arms on my shoulders.
"Mommy said we can go shopping today for the baby." Joelle said.
"Oh did she?"
"Yes she did." I said leaning my head looking at him.
"Oh okay. We can go shopping." he said.
Joelle and I both cheered happily making Joe laugh.
After a little bit, breakfast was done we got in the car and went shopping. We had Joe's parents and my uncle (since he moved to Florida) meet us at the mall. It was gonna be amazing to shop and finally get stuff for the nursery.
***
We finished shopping around four in the afternoon. Yes, we were at the mall from like eleven to four but I just couldn't decide on a lot of stuff and we got quite a bit. When I say quite a bit, I mean, almost all three cars were full.
When we got home, we took the stuff into the nursery. Everyone left shortly after except for my uncle John. He stuck around to visit.
Right now, I was sitting on the floor in the nursery while uncle John and Joelle were on the couch watching TV and Joe was in the office doing something, I'm not really sure.
There was a knock on the door frame and I looked up to see Joe smiling down at me. "Hey you." he said.
"Hey." I said.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Just thinking. I think I wanna get to work on this. You know, painting it. This white just makes it hard to imagine anything." I said.
"Well in a few months you won't have to imagine. He'll be in his crib sleeping away and you can sit in here and watch him all day."
Tears formed in my eyes.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing. I just, I'm taking it all in. After everything we've been through, it feels good to be in this moment." I said.
"Yeah, it does. There's nowhere I'd rather be right now."
"Katie, Joe. Come here." uncle John called.
Joe helped me up and we walked to the living room. Uncle John had the door open and he was looking out of it. I walked up and opened it farther revealing one of my ex boyfriends.
"You want me to get rid of him?" uncle John asked.
"No. It's okay." I said.
Uncle John walked away but Joe stayed right behind me with his hands on my waist.
"What are you doing here Jake? Better question. How did you find out where I live?" I asked.
"Your mom told me and I'm here because I need to talk to you. Preferably alone. Please." he said.
I looked at Joe and then back at Jake. "Okay. Five minutes. That's it." I said. I looked at Joe. "I'll be right back. I love you." I kissed him and then walked outside to the porch. We sat down in the chairs. "What do you want?"
"I need to clear the air. I know that the last time we spoke, I said somethings that I didn't mean. I called you horrible names and I made fun of you for what your dad did and I realize now that I was completely wrong in every single one of those things. I'm so sorry. Can you forgive me?"
