A few months have passed and Joe and I were happier than ever. Connor had started standing up on his own. I was home for that and I cried. It was just so beautiful. Joelle had been growing up nicely. She was very helpful in everything, especially with Connor. It was nice to have her as a daughter. Joe and I had a couple weeks off from work to spend time together. I also had a concert to do in Orlando, which was only a two hour drive from where we were. Uncle John lived in Orlando so he would already be there.
"Is everybody ready?" I yelled through the house with Connor on my hip. We were running a few minutes late already and that wasn't good. I needed to be there for rehearsals and clothes fittings. It was a very good concert. I was only doing them when I had time off, which was great because I really did love singing in front of a huge crowd. It was thrilling.
"Yeah. We are." Joe said walking up to me with Joelle following.
"Sorry mom. I had to find the perfect outfit." Joelle said.
I smiled. "It's okay. Let's go." I said.
We walked out of the house and loaded up in the truck. Joe got in the driver seat and we all buckled up. Joelle was sitting in the back playing with Connor while I smiled watching them.
"What's going on in that pretty mind of yours?" Joe asked.
I looked at him. "Just that I have an amazing family. A family that gets to hear me sing live for the first time."
"Not met. I heard you with Joe Nichols. You were amazing then and you'll be amazing tonight." he said.
"Thanks baby." I said.
We arrived at the site. It was an outdoor concert so it was just a huge lot, a stage and multiple tents and tour buses where we were supposed to get ready. I went a separate way from my family and headed toward a big black tour bus. It was marked talent. I figured this was where I needed to be.
I knocked on the door and then walked in. Uncle John was in there was a few girls and another guy. The guy looked like he could be gay and the girls were really pretty.
"Hi. I didn't know if this was where I was supposed to be but, here I am." I said.
"Of course it is. Just come with me and have a seat. We'll get your hair and makeup done." a blonde said. She looked like she was friendly.
I followed her to the middle of the bus that was wider than the rest and sat in a chair. It was like a beauty salon inside of the bus and I loved it. It was nice and comfortable.
As soon as she was done with my makeup and hair she turned the chair so she could show me and I was stunned. I looked amazing. There was a knock on the bus door and I thought for sure it was Joe. He probably brought the kids here to see the bus and me.
A figure appeared beside me and I looked over to see my mom. "Mom?" I asked.
"Look at you. You're so beautiful." she said.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"You didn't think I'd miss my baby girl's first performance did you?" she asked hugging me.
"It's so good to have you here."
"It's nice to be here. You're gonna be amazing tonight. Any nerves you have don't mean a thing. You've been doing this your whole life. Singing in your room, singing in shower, putting on performances for me and your father when you were little. This is nothing."
I teared up. She remembered that stuff?
"I kind of wish he was here to see this. To see how far you've come. He would be so proud of you right now." she said.
"Thank you." I said.
"Katie, we have to go on soon." Uncle John said from the doorway.
I smiled and dried my tears. "Okay." I stood up and walked out of the bus with my mom and uncle John following. My mom eventually went her separate way to find Joe and the kids. She was going to watch the show with them.
"You're gonna do great out there baby." uncle John said.
I looked at him.
"No matter what happens, I want you to know that I have always been proud of you and I have been your number one fan. But now you have a family and you get to experience that pride. Just remember this. Don't ever let a moment go to waste. You live life to the fullest and never look back or question it." he said.
"Thank you. I love you uncle John." I said.
"I love you too. Now go kill it." he said.
The first song I was doing was a new one. It was called Love Me Like You Do (I do not own this song).
"You're the light. You're the night. You're the color of my blood. You're the cure. You're the pain. You're the only thing I wanna touch. Never knew that it could mean so much. So much. You're fear I don't care cause I've never been so high. Follow me through the dark. Let me take you past our satelites. You can see the world you brought to life. To life. So love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Touch me like you do. To-to-touch me like you do. What are you waiting for? Fading in. Fading out. On the edge of paradise. Every inch of your skin is a holy grail I've gotta find. Only you can set my heart on fire. On fire. Yeah, I'll let you set the pace. Cause I'm not thinking straight. My head's spinning around I can't see clear no more. What are you waiting for? Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Touch me like you do. To-to-touch me like you do. What are you waiting for? Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you. Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Touch me like you do. To-to-touch me like you do. What are you waiting for? I'll let you set the pace. Cause I'm not thinking straight. My head's spinning around I can't see clear no more. What are you waiting for? Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you. Touch me like you do. To-to-touch me like you do. What are you waiting for? Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Love me like you do. Lo-lo-love me like you do. Touch me like you do. To-to-touch me like you do. What are you waiting for?"
The music ended and the crowd cheered like crazy. I felt amazing on the stage. I saw my family in the front cheering, clapping and smiling. My mom had tears in her eyes and Joe had the biggest smile on his face, as well as our children. They all loved it. They all loved me and that was the greatest feeling ever.
I went through many songs, as well as the one that Uncle John sang with me. The crowd was definitely loving it. Now I was gonna end the concert with another new song Wildest Dreams (I do not own this song). I had on a white dress that was diamond studded. It was very beautiful and the lighting for this song was supposed to be really cool and vibrant.
The music started. "He said let's get out of this town. Drive out of the city. Away from the crowds. I thought heaven can't help me now. Nothing last forever, but this is gonna take me down. He's so tall and handsome as hell. He's so bad but he does it so well. I can see the end as it begins, my one condition is. Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks. Say you'll see me again, even if it's just in your wildest dreams ah-ha. Wildest dreams ah-ha. I said no one has to know what we do. His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room and his voice is a familiar sound. Nothing lasts forever, but this is getting good now. He's so tall and handsome as hell. He's so bad but he does it so well and when we've had our very last kiss my last request is. Say you'll remember me, standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks, say you'll see me again even if it's just in your wildest dreams ah-ha. Wildest dreams ah-ha. You see me in hindsight, tangled up with you all night, burning it down. Someday when you leave me, I bet these memories follow you around. You'll see me in hindsight, tangled up with you all night burning it down. Someday when you leave me, I bet these memories follow you around. Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks. Say you'll me again even if it's just pretend. Say you'll remember me. Standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks. Say you'll see me again even if it's just in your wildest dreams ah-ha. Wildest dreams ah-ha. Even if it's just in your wildest dreams ah-ha. Wildest dreams ah-ha."
The music ended and the crowd clapped and cheered so loud. I smiled and waved. This was great. This was my third dream and I could live with that. My first was my family and that would never change.
