Midtown CondoBored couldn't describe how I was feeling.
I'd been leaned up against a boujee ass black car, waiting for a woman to leave her condo. I took that job Willie kept nagging me about and it was already looking difficult.
"I can't believe I'm doing this shit." I chuckled to myself, looking around.
"You waiting for Ms. Maraj?" The doorman asked, standing at his post.
I pulled out a note from my blazer pocket. "Uh, yeah."
I also couldn't believe I had to dress up for the job. I get it was the uniform, but it was way too much for my liking.
I read the note aloud. "Maraj. Anika Maraj."
The doorman chuckled, like something was amusing. "Good luck." He spoke before walking over to the door.
I raised a brow. "Whatchu mean, 'good luck'?"
He didn't respond, so I waved him off as I looked down at my attire. I couldn't wait to get out of these clothes.
"Good day, Ms. Maraj." I heard him speak again.
"Good morning."
My eyes first landed on a pair of black heels. They slowly travelled up to a pair of toned legs. I kept looking up until I met a pair of deep brown orbs.
Anita or whatever her name was had a face on her. Beautiful couldn't even describe it.
Although she had this beauty, I was bombarded by the strength of her attitude already. Not just because she was pursing her lips at me and tilting her head in impatience.
Forgetting that I was 'on the job', I was about to check her, until she spoke to me directly.
"Can you open the door?"
"Uh, yeah, yeah. Sure." I murmured, turning to open the back door for her.
I unintentionally checked her out as she climbed into the vehicle. I caught the annoyed look she sent my way whilst getting comfortable.
I got ready to walk to the driver's door when she started speaking again. "I- Can you close the door?"
"Oh, yeah!" I rushed to close it.
The door man chuckled after watching our whole exchange.
I mugged him. "What is you laughing at?"
My feet guided me to my seat and I was quick to start the car up and hit the main road.
The beginning of the ride wasn't that interesting because of the silence. That was until she started receiving phone calls.
"Tell him to meet me there." She spoke into her drive. "Tell him to wait, then."
I peered at the rear view mirror, sneaking glances at her.
"I'm surprised the jury's returned so soon myself. That's a great thing. Yeah, definitely." I continued eavesdropping. "All right, see you in a second."
She deeply sighed, after hanging the phone up.
"Did they tell you I need to be on call?"
There's was a long silence because it took me a while to register that she said something.
"Oh, you talking to me?" I sat up slightly, looking between the road and rear view mirror. I could feel her burning a hole in the back of my head.
"You're the only other person in the car."
